I pick up my 2020 Himalayan red stitch 3.3T tomorrow evening.

I traded my 18 IS300 which was full of carbon fiber and this car in my opinion looks best in the gray due to the farm wheels, etc.

I too unfortunately only found the carbon fiber choices scarce, and with no ultimate package available it seems those side mirrors are not worth the hassle. Too bad because they would be insane.

The dealer uses a shop nearby but reading the one thread I found, it doesn’t seem like a guarantee installation. I’d definitely be happy with a cover.

I want mirror covers, handle covers, spoiler and pillar covers like my LEXUS has. I’d possibly put a splitter later.

Any advice or know where to get parts besides eBay?

Google has them. But seriously, have you thought about wrapping those pieces? Some of the things you mention exist, but finding them in carbon fiber or a carbon fiber finish is rare. It’s still a really new car and options are limited compared to what you might be used to with other companies

I had textured wrap on my lexus but once I purchased the pieces I can’t like the wrap anymore. I am not a huge fan of it after I had real stuff.

This is my car that I’ll be driving one last time tomorrow to the Genesis dealer.

Then it’s the car I’m getting!!!

I really enjoyed the LEXUS for 2 years and it stood out from others but it’s way behind in technology.

Congrats! Quite the upgrade.

Thanks 😊

I remember long ago I bought a 2001 Eclipse as my first new car. I put everything on the car, headers, exhaust, computer, dynoed, intake, plugs, wires, sound deadner, solobarics, stereo and amps in trunk was all custom, leather with stitched logos, CF interior, springs, adjustable shocks, cross drilled with ceramic brakes, steel hoses, wheels, tires, chromed out engine. I’m sure I left out things.

The story is that when I first got it, my biggest thrill was driving with the air on and windows open and going slow over bumps.

Tomorrow I am wondering wth I’m going to do when I leave the dealership.

I guess the whole point is every car I ever bought I’ve driven gently but this car I’m just too excited not to smash that pedal.

The dealer said it has to be inspected unlike a regular car, that Genesis is really strict and thorough.

I already inquired about their long time custom shop being qualified to do those carbon mirrors from eBay. It’s their go to place since my Sonata 10 years ago so they seemed like it’s ok. As long as warranty stays.

I may consider waiting at the shop so nobody tries to beat my new ride lol

^ Congrats!

Care to proffer your thoughts on what you like/dislike on the 2?

How's the back-seat accomodations in comparison?

Well the Lexus I can say my only issue was the lag. It was annoying as it gets. It still was quick but I hated that lag.

It handles well and overall I have no complaints. It was comfy to me even on long trips.

It was full of options but I think it’s just behind the times now. I heard 21 LEXUS will update its tech.

The LEXUS looks really nice as I made it the Genesis is that Himalayan with the wheels just looks menacing and beauvtiful. Throw in CF accents and look out.

I have not seen one around except one 2.0t lower trim.

I’ll post more later.

Thanks.

The Genesis in person was just amazing and just looks better than the LEXUS hands down.

Ok so I picked up my car tonight and seriously the first thing I thought was, and this was after seeing tons of photos, watching reviews and seeing my car in the showroom just a few days ago and even inside in the back but when I walked outside to it I just thought WOW this car is way too nice for me.

That comment is not because I obviously like the car, bought the car or any other reason except that I was literally stunned at how the Himalayan looked sitting there.

It truly is a work of art and the color is the perfect match to the wheels.

I didn’t have much time to see and check much but the Lexus seems like a fossil when compared to this interior. It reminded me of when I purchased an Acadia Denali and soon after a Ford Explorer and then Explorer made me think how far ahead it was.

Now the dark can make most things hard to judge but it doesn’t make performance change.

The first thought in my head was there is no way this is a V6. It didn’t sound like a V6 and it didn’t feel like one either.

The 0-60 difference between the Lexus and Genesis is 1.5 roughly but my body says differently. The Lexus, hmmm it has no g force but the genesis it felt like the whole car lunged forward as if the steering wheel was leaving me in the dust.

I was not ready for it lol

So I kept it slow mostly but a car pulled up next to me at the light and I could tell it was gonna go, not to race but just that impatient type and I launched and in a few seconds they were so far back I just let off.

The car is impressive inside and out and it looks like a million dollars. Every piece is nice and luxurious and then the power is just crazy.

My impression was it looks badazz and This is just a V6?

I will post more tomorrow but lastly I was caught by surprise how the shifter is only D N R with park being a button.

Good purchase. I think the reason the Genny feels better than the Lexus us because the transmission is faster. The Lexus 8-speed isn't known for quick shifts, I have a GS with the 6-speed and from what I hear from owners with the 8-speed, it makes the car deliver power like a Camry.

I still have not even used the power seat buttons lol. I’m exhausted from a busy weekend.

I don’t know much about the transmission difference but this car will dust my old LEXUS from take off, rolling, going 60, you name it. The car just has power the LEXUS doesn’t. Anytime I punch it and no I have not pushed 100%, the car immediately jumps forward like a crazed lion.

in general the car is just more luxurious than any in its class. I look at the field and the interior is just nicer in my opinion. All the thought and design just flows better.

the whole center is a work of art while my LEXUS was box like.

I won’t even say I did not love my LEXUS because I still do but interior wise it cannot come close.

exterior it is still really nice but this car looks menacing. Just think it’s put together well top to bottom.

some people hated the look of the LEXUS, some hate the genesis. I love both.

this car looks strong and at times scary. Maybe it’s the beauty of the dark yet super metallic Himalayan gray, matched with the dark wheels, chunky tires and red brakes. Maybe it’s the fine stitching and the diamond patten, or the lines of the interior and how each part flows together.

The colors, the design, the complete ideas inside, the seats are phenomenal looking and feeling and the attention to detail over the LEXUS is undeniable.

I can never convince anyone who prefers another brand over the genesis why it’s better. I can only write my experience and what I see.

When I walk up to the car, I hear the mirrors unfold, it is like a sound I now associate with happiness.

I open the door and immediately the quilted door with beautiful lines of silver hit my eye. I sit down inside and my eyes are filled with all these shapes and colors all flowing together.

I see shapes and big ideas all together dancing like one. I just today noticed how the outside buttons that make up mainly the radio are curved differently that the inner ones because the start the flow to the shapes around them.

It really is a complicated design all merged together. I actually love the 3 simplistic AC controls but they feel so smooth. In between the controls for your heat and Ac on the seats.

When you push the start button you are greeted with a short song not a quick chime which you can shut off. The heads up display quickly greets you as well telling you your speed, speed limit, blind spot, radio and it hides some things as needed.

I have a great view at all angles and the steering wheel feels great. The car feels heavy when you turn corners and strong.

I feel zero lag to take off, if I punch in, it just growls loud and goes. The v6 really sounds like a V8. Feels like a V8 and moves like a V8.

I’d write more but time with the car has been limited. Maybe I’ll take this post and merge it with a full review but I’m not a reviewer by any means.

It is hard as hell to do, but you might want to take it easy the first 600 miles. It is suggested in the manual that the break-in for the first 600 miles is to keep the RPM between 2-4K. Page F9 (Break-In Process). Kinda hard to do since the car I test drove is the one I leased. LOL. It had 36 miles on it before I test drove it and I am sure nobody test drove it any different than I did. Congrats on your purchase. The excitement does not subside over time.

^Considering the break-in procedure, I find that it's easiest to keep it in sport mode, and manually shift to keep those RPM's in the correct range. You can still drive gently while doing so.

Either way, most of the break-in was done at the factory, so I personally wouldn't stress it that much (in fact, I didn't when I first got mine - I broke it in a similar way to all the engines that I've rebuilt in the past).

You do you!

My car actually came with around 350 miles. I was annoyed but finding this color with red stitching is not easy.

Ah, I wouldn't worry about it, then. Like I said, the majority of the break-in was done at the factory. Your car/engine is just fine.

Enjoy the car!

I was poking around about spoilers.

I do agree to some extent that it can make the car look like a wanna be racer owns the car but I believe in Carbon Fiber and a minimalist approach. If anyone has seen the photo on my Lexus you would see I had this same approach with it. Pillars, Spoiler, Side Mirrors and Door Handles. Things to me that are not huge glaring parts added but just a few spots to change the appearance without saying HEY LOOK AT ME. It is a list of 4 things but in reality they were subtle in person but you could see it was more grown up looking and less I am a fake racer. No loud pipes, nothing special.

I am interested in the same approach with this car. A small Carbon Spoiler. Yeah I will entertain Pillars and Handles MAYBE. I really like the natural look of these parts though. I love the dark chrome because it is used throughout.

The do sell the Carbon covers for the fender vents and that gas cap but then I think it is going too far.

Unfortunately they is no Himalayan to see decked out in Carbon as there are limited choices. I actually enjoy the M&S look but it too is a bit loud. It does not come in CF as well. YET!

I refuse to add 6 CF parts to a car this beautiful but I will add a spoiler. I had one from my Lexus that actually fit the trunk perfectly minus that is was not as wide as the lines where it opens and my neighbor and I looked at it from all angles and we both said, looks great if it was just a little wider. I just like the look of the CF against the dark gray. It stands out just enough to look sophisticated but not take away from the great design.

That is really the idea. To add to the car, not to steal or ruin it. Subtlety is tough to maintain once we start adding things. Car color and location all play a role. With a white car this CF spoiler now becomes a point of focus. Add CF where white once was and you are changing the car too much. I will say that I have seen CF on white and it can be amazing.

The Himilayan is Carbon Fibers cousin HAHA and therefor you may get away with it better.

Of course this is all my opinion. To look at the M&S style in white on a white car, well it is nice, but in that same set of photos the unpainted Black on the same white car is not so great and steals to show so to speak and if you do that to a G70 wtf are you driving it for. Put that black in CF and ok it likely looks better.

Hey look I am just a spoiler driving around LOL

Ok well I am sure many have their own thoughts on this but these are mine. With the Lexus each CF piece I added, believe it or not was a big decision. I am not trying to stand out, I was just trying to separate my car from the one you see and say oh that's just another Lexus. I knew it was right when only older people would compliment the car directly but my younger family members kept asking if they can have it.

Well, so far I only see one CF spoiler for sale on ebay. There is another but it is $500 and it may be too tall. I really have no idea why it seems that when they take photo shoots for spoilers they get everything but good photos of the spoiler LOL seriously they might as well post pix of the rims sometimes because the photos are that bad.

Well I purchased a spoiler. If they make a better one I will have it switched but for now I wait to get it and I will take it to a shop for installation because while I have done some myself, I am not gonna do this one.

I will post pix when I get it and then after installation.

Spoiler should be here March 10 but it’s China Post so who knows.

I’ll take pix ASAP.

That Himalayan Gray is super metallic in case anyone was considering it. It’s not even close the flat gray, it’s crazy metallic and in person is amazing.

I made my own carbon fiber parts in my current car.
I will likely make my own again when I get a g70 haha

Nothing ever beats custom.
but my carbon was all limited to the inside of the car, and none on the outside

edit: double post
