If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Just wondering what everyone's using for oil filters on the 3.8. Mine is a 2019.

Walmart carries
- K&N PS-7035 for $10.22
- ECOGARD X10430 for $9.87

Amazon carries
- WIX WL10033 for $10.64

RockAuto carries
- WIX WL10033 for $5.64 +ship

AutoZone carries
- Bosch 3848 for $8.99
- Fram Extra Guard CH11934 for $11.99

Online dealers carry
- Hyundai OEM 26320-3CKB0 for $8-9

Any recommendations? I'm leaning toward the WIX, Bosch, and Fram, in that order.

Thank you

There is also this -

Walmart carries
- OEM Hyundai 26320-3CKB0 for $11.95

OEM

I was partial to the Purolator PureOne; using them for 100K miles on my 2011 Hyundai Genesis 3.8 Unfortunately, they don't make a filter for my 2018 G80 3.3T (last time I checked). I've been using NAPA Gold for 30K on my 3.3T. It's supposedly same/made by Wix which gets high marks online.

I didn't realize Purolator made a filter for our cars. I'll have to check that out. The WIX seems to be popular.

I just checked. They have their base oil filter, but no PureOne for the 2018 G80 3.3T. They have PureOne airfilters for my car.

I checked too, for the 3.8 (what I have) they have a part number L18179 but it's recommended for up to 5,000 miles and conventional oil.

Curious why, do you feel they're better, or that it helps protect the warranty? Often third parties can make better products than OEM, but not always. I'm looking for the best filter as long as it's reasonable in price.

I heard on this forum that the Hyundai oem oil filters are good and that's what the dealers use.

Almost any oil filter will be acceptable (except FRAM POS oil filters ) IMO. My opinion is based on internet research and past experience. I've torn a few used oil filters apart, but only from 2 manufactures (Purolator PureOne and NAPA Gold oil filters). Dealer/OEM will work fine. But, in my experience they are "average" filters and more costly. OEM filters will meet the minimum requirements to minimize/avoid any warranty claims/cost to HMA.

I looked up every oil filter available for the 3.8 and they're pretty much all the same. Paper cellulose material, nothing special, even the OEM filter.

The K&N might be slightly better, it's the only one that says it's made for synthetic oil and extended change intervals, and looks to be better made. Some even say they have a 5,000 miles change interval while our manuals say to change oil at 7,500.

I'll buy a K&N as well for comparison.

It would be nice if some of the better filter manufactures made better filters with synthetic media for our cars, but the volume is likely too low to make it profitable.
