Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message

G80 Engine Replacement Compatibility Question

Hey there, I've got a 2018 G80 Ultimate w/AWD and the engine just started knocking at 77k miles. The dealer says I need a new engine, which I figured, but they're quoting me at $14k, so I'd like to try and explore other options before I bite that bullet. Looking online, I've found some decently low mileage 5.0s, but I have a question regarding the drivetrain. I know on some cars, you can bolt an RWD engine into an AWD car as long as they're the same size and model year. Does that hold up for the G80 too, or is there a substantial difference between the RWD and AWD engines that would make them incompatible? The rest of the car is in good condition otherwise if the mechanic I go to needs to reuse parts.
