If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I think 1fstyota has done this mod and it fits. The styrofoam padding has to be shaved or removed for the bumper to fit. You may want to contact yota for more info. I'd like to do this mod in the near future as well (after the holidays).

Is it possible to replace just the large "radiator grill" without changing over to the whole G80 Sport bumper assembly? I would also need to replace the smart cruise "radar" panel with one that has the mesh style pattern of the sport grill.

I don't think so. I believe they are different sizes, with the sport being smaller. You would have to do a custom grill.

You're looking at basically a new bumper and grill and everything associated it with it for it to fit. I think there were 27 or more pieces and you will need a good painter.

@1FstYota ... please send some picture new grill for genesis 3.8

Look very nice ...
how much for Radiator grill and Bumper ?

Depending on where you buy it from and how much is paint your looking at anywhere from 1500 to 2500 to get the front done. That's if you have good resources and do it yourself its bit cheaper than paying labor.

Piggy backing on this thread, has anyone attempted to swap JUST the grills? A Genesis trained sales rep was telling me you CAN do a direct swap of the G80sport grill onto a G80 and I wanted to confirm prior to purchasing one. I cannot do a bumper swap due to having fog lights and would also like to retain the front radar.

Thanks!

I don't know the answer to that but its almost the same shape to be honest, you just need to get the radar cover in the front and you should be in business.

Thanks for the reply 1FstYota. I may just grab the assembly from the dealership and give it a whirl. First I need the car to show up at my doorstep though lol! Longest 10 days of my life..

Yea looking at pics it probably wont cause the normal grill is a bit taller than the g80 sport grill. I can measure this this weekend.

OTOH, what did you pick up?

That would actually be a HUGE help! I'd love to know how off or how close the measurements are.

I grabbed a 2015 Black 5.0 Ultimate RWD out of Illinois. My only regret was not driving it the 1500 miles home lol.

Oh man, if I didn't need the awd I would of gotten a 5.0, congrats and enjoy man you're gonna have a lot of fun. I think that sport bumper conversion would be great on that 5.0 tho.

Yea I can measure it.

Luckily we don't see much snow down in South Texas haha!
And I would love to do the sport bumper conversion, but my fog lights would be in the way and disconnecting them is probably a bad idea (I suppose..)

Loving your swap though, color matching, great lines, really came out excellent. I would 100% assume (and be nearly correct) that It was a g80 sport if I saw it on the street.

The only thing that is not correct is the white mirror covers and the satin silver trim around the windows. Other wise front, sides and rear are all done. I had a guy drive past me in a 15 white genny today doing a double take. lol

Bah! Im a picky person and I cant tell at all. I wouldnt fret over that stuff. (Although I know how it is to notice something that nobody else does, and its irritating lol). Anyway, thanks again for grabbing those measurements, Im crossing my fingers.

I can tell you that the sport grill doesn't line up with regular bumper. I tried that and the sport grill is about 1/4" too wide. If you want the sport grille you have to change out the whole bumper! I just did that and it came out good! You can check it out on IG under Socal_G80

Thank for weighing in!

Hmm poo. A 1/4in isn't much though... if I were to do some minor altering, and clear up 1/8in off the fascia bilaterally, would the grill properly fit otherwise taking into account the vertical dimensions?

If I decide to do the cover swap, I'd likely just update to the newer G80 bumper cover (nonsport) so that I can retain my fog lights, although there isn't all that much difference.

A grill chrome delete is another idea for making the front end a bit more aggressive I suppose.
