  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Look under the vehicle details tab - describes the current car so maybe just a placeholder? Or, as speculated by some, might they be rebadging mid-production? That would seem unfair to folks who already got their 2016 badged as a Hyundai Genesis?

I got an email to join the launch of the Genesis brand at the auto show today at like 1pm. Live stream. Wheels are in motion.

I did too - and watched it. Very good presentation.

very excited for this and to see whats coming! I would love a performance oriented car in the future.

Sounds like the G70 will be for you then, based on things they alluded to in the G90 launch event. They also talked about a very high performance luxury coupe - unclear if the G70 is this coupe as it was 2 different guys speaking at different points.

This is super confusing for existing owners. I'm not entirely sure what I own now, who's going to service it, and what it means for resale. Furthermore, is the V8 option gone now?

You will still service a Hyundai Genesis at Hyundai dealers as there will not be separate Genesis dealers (yet) and the V8 is still showing on the G80 tab. The rest I'm not sure about...

I am guessing that I can use this announcement to help me negotiate on a 2015 v8?

Ask if the dealership has any Hyundai rebates/coupons they can apply. I found one dealer that beat everyone else by $2,500 due to the rebate. And with the 2016s out and 2017 G80 around the corner, Hyundai may be offering certain high volume dealers more incentives.

I found this Q&A on the Genesismotorsusa.com site:

Q: "When can I drive a new Genesis?"

A:" The Genesis G90 and G80 models will arrive during the summer of 2016."

So it looks like an early 2017 G80 launch as some had suggested!

There is a 2750 2015 v8 lease rebate, and $1000 for current hyundai owners. The car I am looking at has 6k mi on it as it was allegedly driven by the president of their company. So I am hitting them hard for those miles.

All demos were the personal car of the general manager of the dealership. That is the first thing that salesmen learn in auto sales school.

Not sure what you mean by "president of their company"? Is that president of the company that owns the dealership (and other dealerships)? I guess that is one-up-man-ship from the normal claim that it was only driven by the GM of the dealer. It probably was not president of Hyundai Motor America, since he lives in Southern California.

But I got news for ya. The demo was driven by people who took test drives and/or needed a loaner car due to warranty service. Car salesman are pathological liars.

I contacted a small dealer in a rural area that had 1 2015 (no 2016) 3.8 AWD Ultimate Genesis on the lot with 6k miles and they wouldn't budge on the price (49k). Their reason being they didn't want to take any sort of a loss because they are required to maintain at least one Genesis on the lot at all times. They'd rather hold onto the one they have and try to sell it as a zero mileage car, however long that took. They were very courteous about my inquiry and I can't blame them for running a business.

If they want to sit on this one, that is fine. My 2013 R-spec runs just fine.
The 2 service loaner geneses i have driven both had tire or wheel scrapes/bumper scuffs/scuffs on the air dam in front of the front tire, but this one physically looks good. I drove over 100 rental cars last year, so I got real good at looking for damage.

The only issue is that when the tires were updated to Continentals, nobody balanced them, so the car vibrates a lot.

I am flying up to do a job in GA tomorrow, and there is one that will work for me a few hrs from where I am going I may take a look at.
