  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G90 Owners - What did the Genesis replace for you?

I had a 2005 Nissan Altima 2.5SL, silver with black leather interior. I loved this car, had over 300,000 miles on it...would still have it if some twit didn't pull in front of me and totaled it. I purchased a 2019 G90 3.3t w/ only 26,000 miles on it! Love this car so far! GCS customer service is also super nice.

Moved to the suburbs and needed a commuter car. 2017 G90 5.0 awd! Replaced the supercharged 2017 Jag F-pace SUV. Before then was a 2016 535, 2015 Chrysler 200, 2012 Jeep Wrangler, 2007 Benz C350, 2009 Rav4 V6 Sport, and a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix GXP. A diverse range of cars lol.

2011 Hyundai Equus ( which I still own ) to a 2018 Genesis G90 Ultimate AWD

Hah. I knew it! :D

btw - you ready for my paypal address?

2017 Audi A8L...loved it but after 3 of them I thought Id try something new.
Got a nice deal on a new '23

What are your thoughts so far on the 23?
Well, its beautiful IMO, like the Audi, smooth, quick, quiet, probably close in handling (I'm still getting use to it) and the technology is stunning. Maybe too much tech for an old geezer like me but so far it's a thumbs up. Great sound system. Best value in class by 10s of thousands

lol. Never too much tech. Enjoy.

2013 kia optima sxl. Needed a small car just to get back and forth from work. So had it 4 years and saved up and waited to see what I really wanted.
Just got a 19 g90 ultimate with 51k miles. I really wanted a 20 for android auto but couldn't justify 10 to 15 grand for it.

I've been driving Cadillac's for the past 30 years, Loved my 2003 DTS but decided to try the Genesis train. Love my 2021 G90 Ultimate.

I know what you mean. I used to be a Cadillac owner and enthusiast. In my honest opinion, Genesis makes better luxury products these days. It's shocking if you think about it. Cadillac had such a head start. I think it all went wrong with the bean counters and executives in board rooms. What a shame... But hey, here we are. :)

Depreciation rates after 3 years of the marque change. You owe me $100.
Please share those details?..Specifically what I stated?

pre covid you could buy a 3.3 G90 for upper 20's with 30K miles

if I said it would lose 50% I think I won

Well - at first you stated that the DH 80 and HI 90 would outpace all the Germans and even your beloved Caddy (CTS6 I think it was?) in depreciation at both 3 and 5 years. Later you tried to change the terms of the bet to exclude Caddy, and you wanted to cross-class compete the 80 for the C class/3 series/A4 and the 90 for the E class/5 series/A6 - because you think price determines vehicle class - which of course is ridiculous.

LOL - not without a salvage title you couldn't. Pre covid they were in the low to mid 40s, and now 4 years after that they are pulling mid-high 20s with high mileage. However - Ultimates with 40-55k on them are pulling mid-high 30s even today - 5-7 years later.

That being said - current dollar amount was never the bet. Depreciation was. In both timeframes - all the Germans outpaced in depreciation except the S class which didn't until the 5 year mark (as I originally predicted and bet on).

The cherry on top for me though - and it is [italic]almost[/italic] worth not collecting on the bet - is the fact that after all your bloviating for the Caddy and the S class and all the bagging you did on Genesis as a whole, and on individual models, and how much less of a good deal, overall value and smart buy it was supposed to be - you ended up buying a 90 anyhow. That gave me quite the grin when I saw that in your profile and in your previous posts. Seems like in the end you finally realized what the reality of the situation was. You can take peace in knowing you made the right decision - at least for that generation of vehicles.

LOL..Please pull up that quote where I stated all that......
Beloved CT6?...seriously
I can guarantee you that I never said I loved a Ct6

But on another note you do realize that a used CT6 is more than a G90

You dont think price has anything to do with vehicle class to a consumer?..really??

As for the non salvage title units you most certainly could buy a 3.3 G90 for upper 20's pre covid.
Check posts from back then as to what people were paying for 2-3 year old G90's . Also check how large the discounts were from sticker back then
On another note I understand discounts off sticker for a new G90 are pretty significant now as well.
