  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

After buying gas today, my gas cover won't latch. I noticed the gas station guy pushing it several times.... I pulled out and checked it out myself and saw nothing odd. I walked back over near the gas tanks to see if there was any kind of broken part lying on the ground.... nothing. When I press the release button on the dash, I can hear it functioning. I had my daughter press the button and I can feel on the outside of the car where the action is.... and see the little button on the inside of the gas cover that is supposed to come out and lock the cover... it appears to be stuck in there. It moves a little when you press the button, but doesn't come out enough to latch. Lots of little irritating details on an overall good car. :( anyone have any suggestions - or is this -- like the headlight -- a $350 fix?

Thanks, tried that, didn't help. There's a black thing that moves a bit, and then a silver looking pin.... but I can't tell if maybe the silver thing is broken somehow

is it possible for someone to open the gas door on their car and take a picture so i can see what the latch is supposed to look like? I might be able to tell then if it's broken, or just jammed.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Is it within warranty? 5yr/60K? If so, take it to the dealership, they'll take care of it.

looks like whole thing pops out if you wanted to dig more....if not take it in for warranty work.

Perfect picture..... looking at mine, it looks like mine is broken. The little thing that looks like a wing nut was loose, I put that back on, and the thing sticking out is gone. Thank you for the picture.

yup wouldn't bother with it and take it to the dealer if under warranty.

Thank you. Yes, I think it broke off. I don't know how, it appears to be metal. But I'll make an appointment. Thank you so much for the info.

You're welcome, Katine. If you think it broke off, don't say that... Act oblivious. If they think you did something to it, they'll explain why you should pay for it.

I truly love the internet!

yes, good point. thanks again. but my argument would be, if I knew that little pin would break off in 3 years, I would assume it'd break every 3 years... and if that's the case, I wouldn't spend $55K on a car with such a problem, and certainly wouldn't buy one again! :)

The pin broke on mine a few months back. The tech said they all break eventually.

Does anybody know the part number for the pin? Do I need to replace the whole assembly?

is there a manual gas door release for the 2015 Genesis.

Same question here
Same question^2.

The pin C/T my assembly sheared off or recessed into the housing I’m thinking. It happened early last week, when I closed the door a little too hard (1st and LAST time I pretend to slam the door lol), but I didn’t see any broken pins/pieces. Currently my pin is nearly flush with the base, and I have NO desire to fix it., but I’m out of warrant.

Should be 81590-B1000. Looks like it is $34 on Amazon.
