  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a problem on my '15 Gen. The gas door will not open when the button is pushed. The car has only a little more than 5000 miles. Is this a common problem w/ the 2 Gen? Hyundai also replaced all 4 brake rotors after 700 miles because of a vibration I was getting when braking at highway speeds. I love this car but I'm a little concerned even though its all covered by the warranty.

Time to get the lemon law rolling?

1. gas door problem - this is the sort of nit-picky problem encountered with all new cars. I had a few little probs. like this on my Sonata when new. But, in the ten years since, I have had zero problems. Go figure.

2. brakes: I leased a new 2008 Taurus once - an hour later, I had to drive back to the dealer because of vibration from the rotors. They had to mill a few thousandths off the rotors because of rust build-up sitting on the lot. At least they did yours right by giving you new rotors.

Bottom line: I would remain only a little concerned at this point.

I've never heard of anyone else having this problem on the 2015s, so it seems to be uncommon (at least on this forum).

Time to get the lemon law rolling?

I think for most states that requires 3 visits for the same problem in a specified amount of time.

The rotors may be because it was sitting like someone else mentioned - or it is quite possible that someone misbehaved on a test drive during the first 50 to 100 miles. Even on freshly manufactured vehicles if you do not properly bed-in the pads it will/can result in problems. So can over-torquing the lugnuts.

Good advice.

Hey, the OP is worried. Perhaps my sarcasm about invoking the lemon law will make him realize that he is overreacting. Next time I use sarcasm I'll be sure to add rolling eyeballs to my text.

At least there is an emergency release for the gas door on the genny. I had this happen on one of my Lexus and could not find any manual release, I had to pry the door open to get gas!

Yes, open the trunk and there is a small marked T-handle on the left side that you pull.
Funny - this feature is not documented in the owner's manual on my Gen.

But, my Sonata has exactly the same little T-handle - and is well documented - go figure.

Section 4-30

Not in my book.

The fuel filler door is treated at pages 3-58+ in my manual (but, no T-handle release).

Section 4 is a short "multi-media" section - 5 pages long.

My bad - was the 2103 manual. Sorry.

Just found out the dealer used double sided tape to keep the fuel door closed until the dealer recieves the part from the warehouse. In the mean time I have to carry around duct tape to keep it closed after I refuel. kind of embarrassing on a new Genny,no?

Just found out why the gas door wouldn't open. The dealer had put double sided tape to keep it closed? Go figure.

At least they did that!
