  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Gas mileage of a 2015. 5.0

I bought a 6000 pound car with the biggest engine available and drive in sport mode because I can beat other cars at the stop lights. It does not get the same MPG as my wife's Corolla. What do you think is wrong with it?
Sounds like you need premium fuel in your tank!;)

I track MY fuel usage so I can track my costs. I certainly didn’t buy the 5.0 to be my frugal gas-sipping commuter car. I enjoy sound, power and performance of my v8-powered 2.5 ton+ beast. Had I been one who is concerned about gas usage, I could’ve opted for a Tesla- and join the countless other Tesla drivers that permeate the Bay Area.

Speaking of poor gas mileage, saw two nice vehicles in our church lot yesterday: a huge Bentley with a v12 and the new Lamborghini SUV. I wonder if these owners ponder their mpgs?...:ROFLMAO:

Agreed. Who buys a large 420hp V8 performance luxury sedan and expect it to be fuel efficient?

Any large 420hp sedan that can get over 20mpg on the highway is great.:)

I agree completely.
A while back when my 2015 Ultimate V-6 was new and I frequented the site more often I would be amused by the posters who were claiming to get 32 to 35 MPG with their 5.0. I always had my reservations about that. My V-6 AWD on its best day got an honest 27. Accordingly on open highway runs I could expect 24 to 25 MPG of which I was very happy about.

So, it looks like Trump has approved E15. Hyundai states that using anything higher than E10 can damage the engine internals and isn't covered under warranty. Thoughts???

Just because it is approved does not mean we will see it very soon. Cleaner, but less mpg so I don't know how well it truly helps.

It is acceptable for use in your Genesis though:

Gasoline containing alcohol or
methanol

Gasohol, a mixture of gasoline and
ethanol (also known as grain alcohol)
are being marketed along with or
instead of leaded or unleaded gasoline.
For example, "E15" is a gasohol
comprised of 15% ethanol and 85%
gasoline.
Do not use gasohol containing more
than 15% ethanol
, and do not use
gasoline or gasohol containing any
methanol. Either of these fuels may
cause drivability problems and damage
to the fuel system, engine control
system and emission control system.
Discontinue using gasohol of any
kind if drivability problems occur.
"E85" fuel is an alternative fuel comprised
of 85 percent ethanol and 15
percent gasoline, and is manufactured
exclusively for use in Flexible
Fuel Vehicles. "E85" is not compatible
with your vehicle. Use of "E85"
may result in poor engine performance
and damage to your vehicle's
engine and fuel system. Genesis
Branded Vehicle recommends that
customers do not use fuel with an
ethanol content exceeding 15 percent.
✽ NOTICE
To prevent damage to your vehicle’s
engine and fuel system:
• Never use gasohol which contains
methanol.
• Never use gasohol containing
more than 15% ethanol.
• Never use leaded fuel or leaded
gasohol.
• Never use "E85" fuel.
Your New Vehicle Limited
Warranty does not cover damage to
the fuel system or any performance
problems caused by the use of
"E85" fuel.

I average about 15 in City and 22/23 on pure highway driving.

lol this is a good thread so far...i dont post much but figured i would on this one...i have a '15 5.0 and for the record i dont care about MPG....with that being said i just finished my annual 1500 mile road trip to SD. in previous years i have tried to set records on either the way out or the way back. Its about 675 miles form home and ive made it in 8:25, thats with cruise set at 110 across SD and MN, 75 to the east side of WI. ill get to MPG now....on that trip with the higher speeds in normal mode i got (according to the car) about 22.5mpg, this year i took it easy and in eco mode the whole way there and back i saw 24.5-26.5...(assuming 85mph in 80 SD limit, and 78-80mph in 70MN limit). was pretty happy, even in eco mode when you put the pedal down to get around that dump truck it moves....last note i always run 91 octane just cause i feel better about it.

I am getting 8.6 l/100 km ...app 28mpg on hwy. city is far worse....but if i let off the gas and coast and drive sensibly it is 12- 13 l/100...app 18-20mpg

By the fake numbers on the dash my MPG for the last tank has gotten 2 - 2.5 lower mpg after switching to 93 octane. Haven't done the manual calculation yet. I drive the same routes every week so driving style hasn't changed. I'll see what the real numbers are, though.
