  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi All,
I am contemplating a purchase of A new Coupe. The little woman is concerned about the mileage, as the car will be for a long commute. I want the V6 and she the 4. Please give me all your true mileage you have been getting on both modeld

Rob

I'll put it this way. I commute 37 miles to and from work 5 days a week. I leave for work Friday and my last drive home is Tuesday night. I drive mostly highway miles. I usually can drive 4 and a half days without needing to fill up. It's a bigger tank than my Tiburon. My Tiburon would be 4 days. If I don't go anywhere on my 2 days off in my car than I don't have to get gas as often either.

So point black, I don't really know what the real mileage. I can tell you it's honestly better than what the sticker said. Whenever I fill up my tank, the gas gauge will say anywhere from 280 to 340 miles to the gallon.

I travel 100 miles a day for work. I am getting about 22-23 MPG. I normally fill up about 3 times a week.

I travel only 6 1/2 miles to work, r/t of 13 along with running around town in between and I am getting around 17.6 mpg with the V6...just to be fair I should mention...I don't do too much highway driving....mostly city and I fill up pretty much every 2 weeks...but on the other hand, I seem to be getting the same mileage as my 4 cylinder Mazda 6 which I just traded in for this car. Very strange because that car was supposed to be getting 24 mpg in the city, well at least according to the sticker when I purchased the car. I never actually tried to figure out the mpg I was getting on that car, but I can tell you that I am still driving the exact same amount of miles each week (I'm still at the same job) and I was also filling up the Mazda every 2 weeks. The only difference is that the Mazda 6 has an 18 gallon fuel tank and the Genesis has a 17.2 gallon tank...really not much of a difference, yet I seem to be still filling up in the same amount of time. I really don't think the Mazda was getting anywhere near the mileage they claimed it would get. I was a little concerned about the gas since I was trading up from a 4 cylinder to a 6 cylinder...but now that I see that my Mazda really wasn't getting the mileage I thought it was...I am very relieved that I am not really spending any more on gas with the larger engine of my Genesis. :-)

I have the 3.8 with my foot out of the floor I get about 26.7 mpg pedal to the floor (as usual) about 20-21 I average 50 miles round trip daily

Just drove from Connecticut to Ohio and back- averaged slightly over 30 MPG ave. 68 MPH.

Just came back from a trip from NJ to W Va to NC then back. Gas mileage ranged from 30-33.7. Our car (3.8) is 2 1/2 months old. Great on trips!

With my 3.8 GT and all highway mileage (at 75-80mph) I can eek out a 30 - 32mpg. If most of my driving is in town or in the city it goes down to about 25 - 28mpg. And if I play hard then I'll see 22 - 23 mpg.

My trip to work is 16 miles and under hilly terrain with stop and start driving at beginning and end of trip. I get 21-23 mpg. I haven't really taken it out on interstate driving to see what it would get.
