  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Gasoline smell after fill up

Fuel tank air filter clogged or low flow? Other posts on forum seem to say that it does get dirty and needs changing at Hyundai intervals shown. If it is restricted charcoal system will not allow pressure relief when tank is closer to full could be another reason. Fumes build to higher pressures as heated and sloshed around.

Or maybe the tank air filter was changed at some point. And not a good seal which shows up in different conditions (not all the time) of temps and pressures.

I am not saying any of this is definitive. Suggesting another line of troubleshooting.
DRS, thanks for your reply. Just the type of information I was looking for.

I don't know what they did to my car. All I know is that they sent a field engineer in to assess the issue, had the car all day and left it parked outside at night in a non-secured area and for some reason they drove the car 22 miles.

You're just bored, right?! I've been filling up gas tanks on more cars than I can count for over 50 years...... do you really think I need a lesson on how to fill a gas tank...... or how NOT to fill a gas tank!

I'm assuming that many people are reading these threads so information posted may help someone.

What's the big deal? Maybe they got hungry and just wanted some doughnuts.

Sounds like an issue with the evap canister, or some component connected to it.
