  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I am looking at purchasing a genesis sedan. How is the parts availability for normal maintenance parts (brakes, suspension, belt, oil filters) and anything else i may be overlooking.

I don't mind oem or aftermarket.

The normal maintenance parts are easy to find on the 3.8 models overall; aftermarket or OEM. However, the 5.0 models parts can be harder(or not at all) to find aftermarket; like the active suspension, 14in rotor performance brake calipers, sway-bar bushings, etc. Those parts are OEM only from what I can tell and can be on back-order.

The good news is that the commonly replaced parts like the water pump, thermostat, drive belt, sensors, spark plugs, coil packs, brake pads, brake rotors, oil filters, air filters, transmission filter pan can be easily found aftermarket or OEM on both the 3.8 and 5.0 models.

Before the pandemic. I was able to source front rotors/pads through NAPA for my 5.0.... Post pandemic, I couldn't find rear rotors anywhere. Fortunately, I was able to resurface them. I did try that on the fronts but it was NOT a good result.

I bought Raybestos front and rear rotors for 2015 5.0 with the larger 14in front rotors. The only well known company that I could find that sold both the front and rear rotors other than OEM.

Amazon still sells them.
