If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So my 3.8 is a bit over a year old and I have rotated tires every 3k miles. I noticed 2 issues:
Minor issue - rear tires wear faster at center of tread (my pressure gauge is calibrated and I maintain the recommended 33psi). Anyone else with this problem and suggestions other than drop the pressure to 30?

MAJOR ISSUE: Front tires worn out on inside edge at 19k miles. Alignment revealed all measurements in spec EXCEPT front Camber at -1.2 left -1.3 right.

Anyone had a significant front camber issue and if so what have you done to resolve it?

I have installed Conti DWS but want to resolve the camber issue quickly.

Email me if any practical experience.

Thanks

Front camber settings of -1.2 degrees and -1.3 degrees certainly appear to be outside the acceptable range.

The Hyundai website specifies front camber settings of -0.53 degrees plus or minus 0.5 degrees. This will give an acceptable range of -.03 to -1.03. (These are the settings for the 2009 model, which I have. I suppose they could be different for the 2011. I have not checked on this.)

Inside wear would indicate that the camber settings are too far negative. Of course, incorrect toe settings could also be involved here; but you indicated that all other settings were within specs.

Have the alignment shop change the settings to -0.53 degrees (or as close as they can get to that) before you put too many miles on your new tires.

I just found this post: I found I was getting bad road noise that I will call thumping at about 15k mile on my 2011. I took it to the Hyundai shop and they told me it as the tire and that it wouldn't correct itself. The ride was getting bad also. I rotated my tires religiously at the shop and therefore have found that both left tires have inside wear that is causing this thumping. At 25k I had to replace the tires because it had gotten way to bad.

The car was drifting to the right all the time and Hyundai said it was do to the tires. Short story now is I just put a new set of Michelin Pilot S on it with a cost of $1,400 after install. Still drifting to the right. Hyundai has confirmed the pulling and the car has now been in the shop for many weeks with them trying to fix it. The issue is there is only alignment options on the right side of the car meaning they can not adjust the camber on the left and this is in my opinion the issue.

I would be interested if you have notice you always have to hold your hand with a light pressure on the left side of the steering wheel. I do and think this is reflected by wearing the tire.

They have an engineer working with them now and hopefully it will be fixed soon. I think they need a camber adjustment kit for it like use to be used on the older GM cars.

Camber isnt adjustable unless you have an rspec. Camber wont necessarily wear your tires. Your toe is usually the culprit. With bad toe the tires "scrub" more on the surface which as you can guess will wear away rubber quickly. You can have negative camber and still get normal tire wear and life, obviously it will wear on the patch thats hitting the road but it will wear just as normal as a car with normal camber specs. Im lowered and my front camber is -1.8 and -2.2 and my tires wave worn fine over the last year. I would try a custom shop that deals with lowered and custom vehicles, they can work wonders. I still dont understand why hyundai felt the need to not have camber adjustment on the front of this car.

was told no camber adjustment on the 2012 rspec either

Camber isnt adjustable unless you have an rspec. .

you are the one who believes the camber is adjustable on a car you do not have. i am saying that the dealer told me that the camber isnt adjustable and even tried the adjustable ones from a coupe

No need to be a dick. I could care less about an rspec bcuz i already have a ride with more hp and i cant justify the money for the slight gain between the 4.6 and 5.0. Previous threads, rspec owners stated that there were camber bolts available. Thats why i asked

Interesting. I had my '12 R Spec aligned when I put on new Conti DW's and they were able to adjust Camber, Caster and toe. The read out shows both readings before and after adjustements.

Maybe the dealer is telling you he can't adjust camber to be in spec, which would mean a bent/broken part. After my accident, mine had this issue and they replaced the lower A arm on the one side that would not adjust to spec.
