  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

This has happened 3 times consistently over the past 3 days: You go to crank it but the dashboard display and all electrical components are DEAD and car will not start. Then if you manually open and close the TRUNK, it starts. Ran fine for 200 miles after it started (didn't stop during trip). Any thoughts?

Loose battery cable clamp?

Given the battery is in the trunk it is probably shaking something. Have you checked the cables and connections?

Thanks but battery cables are fine (first thing I checked). I don’t slam the trunk, just open and close it. When I do that, I hear a distinct click - like a reset or something registering - and then power appears on the dashboard and car can crank. One thing: after power reappears, car cranks kind of hesitantly.

Believe me or not it has something to do with your battery connectors This happened to me before on several occasions It took me a while to figure out but I did Especially that postive terminal It may appear to be well connected but still came lose after going over a few bumps while driving which obviously happens when the trunk is closed So what did I do?? I was so upset that I hammered a wide short nail between battery post and connector and a little bit into the battery I been good for a long time now

You were ALL correct, it was the positive battery cable... I looked at it but it seemed ok, but a friend checked it out and said I'd missed the loose contact. Seems to be operating correctly now. Thanks for everyone's input!
