  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Anyone have any bright ideas as to dimming the overhead lights in a 2015 Genesis sedan? My 2.5yr old's face gets blasted by the overhead light. He is on the passenger side. Any soft sticking circular yellow gel sheets? Other ideas?
Toronto gets cold most winters! Glue needs to stick!

Change the bulb with a different warmth amount. A warm white festoon (2700K) should work.

I was thinking about you last night while I was driving home with my 6yr old in the back seat. He likes to turn on the light so he can look at his books while we drive. I don't mind since it's not in my rearview so I let him keep it on. But I noticed the light shines on his legs (not his eyes). So it made me wonder how it shines in your son's eyes. I've never checked, but does it pivot to not shine on the passenger?

I believe those bulbs are LED not incandescent bulbs. If LED's then voltage can be reduced by resistors ...however that might screw up something else in the lelectrical system ... LED's don't get very hot so maybe a dab of black paint on the bulb might work to lower the light level

Since the OPs child is 2 years old they are probably still rear-facing, whereas your child is front-facing.

Great idea..solves those who think light is too bright plus easy to do :=)
Amazon is amazing for finding odd items

I ordered these to put on my clock radio display near bed and my cable box time display which were too bright and distracting at night. They were in easy to cut sizes that were perfect for those items:

Okay, I experimented last night. Try this. Get some scotch tape and make a 2" by 2" square on your countertop by layering it. Then, use a sharpie and color it as evenly as you can. Stick it on the light lens and it'll dim quite well. You can trim the excess quite easily and neatly with a pair of scissors. I still got it to stick right on the rim of the light lens trimming to make it look like it fits.

If you wanted to go super clean, you could trace a template first using paper while the light is turned on.

Add another layer of the same tape to go even more dim.
