I was disappointed that the 2015 Genesis will not be available with the 5.0 liter 8 cyl engine with AWD. For me living in Pennsylvania, AWD it is a want to have for me. I now own a 2011 Ford Taurus Limited AWD and was looking forward to updating to a 2015 Genesis Ultimate.
Sorry to say that with no 8cyl AWD available to us in the U.S.A. I went shopping.
Searching the web I came across a new offering for the, 2015 Infinity Q70 and Q70L. It is available in two lengths and a 5.6L V8 – 416 hp at 6,000 rpm and 414 lbs-ft of torque at 4,400 rpm with ALL WHEEL DRIVE. Also available with a 6cyl with AWD.
It is due to hit the showrooms soon and I won't be far behind.
If your interested in a 8 cylinder AWD four door luxury sedan, maybe its worth a look …....

Only one problem. A loaded 2015 Infiniti Q70 AWD V8 is about $20K more (even without Sport Package) than the 2015 Genesis 5.0 Ultimate.

It's certainly not a bad choice. Where does that price put it in comparison to an AWD E class?

Although the Infiniti isn't a bad car I think it's priced significantly higher than it's worth. At that price range why not just get a "base" S6?

I owned a M37S and it was a wonderful car. Have been waiting to see the new face-lifted 15 Q70, but what I will say is Infinit's AWD is old school, it is purely reactionary. The AWD in the Genesis is like Audi's Quattro, it is full time 40/60 split and then varies based on traction need. Owning an Audi now I love having power to all 4 wheels concurrently. That said in your situation I understand and think that while the Genesis will offer more goodies for about $10K less the Infiniti is a really nice car. The tech in the Infiniti is dated compared to the Genesis as well.

Base S6 will cost you at least $10K more than the Infiniti, also the Infinit tends to have steep discounts. I bought my 11 M37S 3 months after it was released and they were discounting them $4K off MSRP then, I hear it is higher now.

Not sure they are a troll, but obviously someone who has vested interest in selling Infiniti's. I wasn't sucked in, and recognized that right away. There are also people with direct or indirect connection to Hyundai on this forum, although sometimes harder to spot.

I’ve owned a G since 2007 and am still very happy with the car. I have always loved the M thought it to be a very good sport sedan. I think Infiniti makes really nice cars. Of course the obvious consideration when comparing is the cost factor versus value. Since I own a 2015 Genesis I can tell you I am extremely happy with the car. Though I perceive from your choice of alternative that you are looking something more of a dedicated sport sedan. I do think that there is a very good possibility that the next update of the Genesis will probably have AWD as an option for the 8 maybe even an R Spec version. That said if you’re going to spend that much money you might want to consider the cost/value factor and just wait a while to make sure you’re getting something you’ll be satisfied with.

Agreed. If you already decided 100% against a car because it doesn't have AWD then why bother to go to that car's forums and tell people?

That being said. The Infiniti was the only other car on my list (once I learned that the 2015 Taurus SHO wasn't going to be aluminum body).

Hey Charlie S. I am quite confused. You stated there is no 5.0 Ultimate AWD, but Ferrethouse has one (so stated).

Ferrethouse, was your Ultimate AWD a special order? I know in Canada the 5.0 AWD option is available.

I also spoke to a dealer in MD, and he stated they can get it for me.

Taurus SHO is the most direct comparison to the 5.0L Genesis in the budget range.

You can only get AWD 5.0 in Canada and I live in Canada. I don't know if special order from the USA is an option. I suspect that there are some minor regulatory differences that may make it not possible.

The 3.5 twin turbo is wicked! The Taurus suffers from a bit of a weight problem like the Genesis. Shaving 600 pounds off with aluminum body would make it a beast. Guess they are waiting to see how the F150 fairs before rolling that out to other models (probably an aluminum supply issue too).

Ask your dealer for a price quote on that, before you jump to any conclusions.

Also note that we have a 6.1% tariff on Korean cars in Canada. I don't know if you have something similar in the USA but if you get a car special ordered from Canada you are probably paying that extra 6.1%.

Wrong thread sorry folks.

Not to mention that the Hyundai Canada warranty is not valid at USA dealers. Even if you took it back to Canada for warranty service, there is no extended drivetrain warranty in Canada.

I just want to take a moment and possibility explain and clarify a few things. First of all I work for no one, always self employed till I retired a few years ago. No vested interest in any car company, but very interested in cars. I have been visiting the Hyundai Genesis Forums since information about the new 2015 Genesis started appearing in the forum. I finally thought I had something to offer so I decided to join the forum this week.

I posted the information about the 2015 Infinity Q70 because I would this time like to buy a 8 cyl car, with AWD, trying to relive my youth in a small way. Other post also speak of wanting a AWD 5.0 Genesis and even anticipating the arrival of a Rspec second gen Genesis.

Canada has one up on us this time with Hyundai. See Post ---> http://genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/showthread.php?t=14098

My research has proven to me that dollar for dollar the 2015 Genesis can not be matched and my color choice is Montecito Blue with grey interior. I again called my local Hyundai dealer today and he assured me that in the U.S.A. The 5.0 AWD in not yet available and he would check with his Rep to see if special orders are possible. If the Infinity is overpriced for my cookie jar or not as it appears then I may take the wait and see route or as my better half suggest .. Do You Need The 8 Cylinders you old geezer…

Sorry if I ruffled the Captains or others feathers. I would like to remain welcome on this forum.

Of course Charlie. It just looked very suspicious as a first and only post.

I probably would have bought the V6 AWD if the 5.0 didn't have it. But AWD is a must where I live and Infinity would have been my next choice too. Both great cars.
