  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis 5.0 r spec tuning opportunity!!!

That's solid. I'm currently sitting in the staging lanes at my drag strip to get some baseline times before the tune.
Where you located? Let us know what you run. Good luck 👌🏼

South Florida. So from what I've found. The torque management is also holding us back. Even with traction control off and fuse pulled. I wanted to avoid any bogging on the launch. As I launched the torque management kicked in and it shows on the data log. It sucks I only got to run once and they were having issues with the ticket machine and 2 runs after me someone oiled the track

I’d also be interested. I’ve ran e25 and e30 in my gen as well and currently have a zex 100 shot on it. Handles it great but would love a tune to take out timing for a 200 shot. Also would love to be able to toss a big ol spooly boi on the tau. Keep us updated

Do you have a part number for the zex kit. Id like to go the same route

Kdm5pointslow-- I believe you are the first to acknowledge that you are using NOS!! Been trying to get these few guys that want more power to consider it. Just get Naaa back. " I'll try to put in a Turbo or supercharger" Yea, without a opened ECU. Good luck. Is yours wet or dry system? I didn't know ZEX had a specific NOS for the 5.0. I know NOS does. Have you gotten any performance results, dyno, etc.? I'm sure the board would want to know everything you did, both pluses and minus's. Maybe get one or 2 to try the easy immediate 50-75 rwhp shot.

Currently I have the zex universal efi v8 blackout wet kit installed. Took about three hours tops and you’ll need a 8mm fuel line adapter from NOS or nitrous express. No dyno results yet but I did just race a full bolt 335i who consistently runs 11.9s and pulled a few fender on him. So I’m guessing I have a 11 genny with the wet shot. I started off with the 75 and it handled it perfect so I switched to the 100. Next time I get to my jet set I’ll put the 125 in and see how she does. My concern is the transmission with our clunky torque management the motor should be gravy with a 200 shot honestly as long as ignition is retarded enough

We need more people like you lol. A few of us are bold enough to just say f it and send it!!!!!

Bad news.... Tuner is starting to back away from the idea. "Not enough interest" for him to dedicate his time to it. Man it's gonna be a long hard road for me because I am very hardheaded and can see the potential in this base clearly. Even looking at the cylinder heads there are some major port jobs that can be done. E55 headers are damn near a direct bolt on. It's gonna take one of us completely handing out ass whippings to some "fast cars to grab these guys attention.

Have you CAD’d the E55 Amg’s exhaust manifold pattern and made sure they’re going to fit? I had the same idea with a pair of Bbk shorty headers for a Ford 4.6 they also looked similar. I was thinking of maybe buying an exhaust manifold gasket for the Genny and trying to match it as best as possible to the Ford manifold and see what would need to be done. Making room in the bay is not an issue for me

Good luck with your efforts. If some of the results can be applied to a 3.8, you could broaden the number of interested people. I'd love the car to have the top end limiter removed. Seems to hold me to 135.

The 3.8 lambda motor is quite different tcu and ecu wise and I believe they already have tunes available for the 3.8 platform because they stuck those motors in gen coupe r specs and they can be tuned. Some guy has a 1000hp 3.8 coupe on YouTube

Ok, learn something new everyday. Wasn't trying to hijack your thread. Good luck though!

I haven't CAD it. I actually purchased the manifold gaskets for the 5.0 tau. Looks like we are headed there same direction lol. I'm sure we will have something solid soon enough. I have a mechanic with nothing but free time so the moment we find an exact port match she's going on the lift.

Perfect. I have a tig welder and free time so I’ll modify these flanges on the bbk headers if like you say the ports line up because it appears that the gasket seats itself insides the head and the manifold itself. May have to modify the port openings slightly

The platform has untouched potential that will soon be touched! They were able to squeeze over 500hp out of Ryhs millens Hyundai 5.0 drift car naturally aspirated. And that was just with headers and tuning with race fuel. Who knows maybe even someone will play around with the intake manifold from the Coyote platform. The engine pulls until fuel shit off right around 7300rpm.

I thought Millen's Hyundai coupe was a bored out 4.1 V6, not the tau V8, or am I behind in his developed cars? The only 5.0 Tau coupe I thought he had was back at the SEMA 2011 show which never ran well and was dropped never to be heard from again.

The RM460 actually was the 4.6 V8 he pumped 500hp out of. My bad. So the 5.0 is definitely more than capable of doing it

That’s the problem, engine has potential but no one can get into the ecu codes like a GM unit. Without that happening everything is minor increases except for NOS. LAP and others tried but little results. My unit was test bed for LAP, great guys to work with but only got 15+rwhp and only able to take advantage of the over rich mixture at top end built into the ecu. Gave up because potential costs vs sales to try to work it out. They were able to decode the V6 Stinger with a new ecu in 6 months with monster gains, so they know what they are doing. I found, to my suprise, that if I beat it hard and use 93 + oct boast I get trans to shift @ 7000 in first 3 gears. An engineer friend told me that the factory throttle body openings flow large enough up to 7200rpm and no need to enlarge. Same for injectors. Apparently there are engineering formulas for all this stuff. This is without adding supercharger/ turbo which would chg everything if you could get into ecu mapping.
