If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I installed the Genesis app on my android phone. It worked great but it seems to want to be in charge of the phone at all times. For instance, I also had a Fit app on the phone. When I go to the Fit app, it will start up and then the Genesis app starts. I close the Genesis app and a few seconds later, it starts again. It happens with other apps also.
It seems that every time I wake the phone up, Genesis is always there. I have to close it to do anything else.
Anyone else have this problem?
Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

are you talking about Bluelink?

No, the Blue Link app works great and is what I use now. The app I had problems with was the Genesis app which I realized it is for 2015 Genesis and nothing is said about the 2016. I have uninstalled it for now. When I installed it, I said to myself "they are the same car", but now I am realizing that they are not the same car in other ways also.

For instance the serpentine belt on the 2015 only has grooves in one side like all other serpentine belts. The belt on my 2016 has grooves on both sides. I ask at the dealer parts counter and they said they had never seen a belt with grooves on both sides and they didn't have a belt for my car.

They also don't have fuses for my car.

I'm not sure what else is different but I am sure there is more surprises coming.

Does the Blue-Link app have all of the functions... climate control setting, defrost, send POI to car, etc... ?

Yes it does and also lock and unlock doors, flash lights, flash lights and horn, and a neat timer for parking meter time.
Probably more that I have not found yet.

Yes. Another advantage it has over the Genesis app for iOS devices is the Apple Watch control. That lets you perform most of the remote functions without fishing your phone out of your pocket.

So for those of us with a 2015G: Do we use the Bluelink App (I've never used it) or the Genesis App? I have always used the Genesis App but I don't see any new features since I installed it one year ago.

They both work - but the Bluelink app does not integrate your calendar and send reminders for when to leave for calendar events or to heat/cool your car (based on outside temp). It also does not allow you to turn on the defrost function during remote start like the Genesis App does.

I was just checking out the Bluelink app. It does have a defrost icon next to the Temp toggle. Not sure if there is any advantage to using it vs. the Genesis app.

Missed that, so Bluelink App does have defrost. It appears that the only real difference is the calendar/weather integration and notifications.

I can't find the Genesis app to reinstall it. Could someone else try?
Thanks

Do a search for 2015 Genesis app. It is also called the Genesis Intelligence app.

The dealer never told me about this app only about Bluelink... i just downloaded the intelligent app... Looks kind of like bluelink but a nicer setup IMO...

I have searched and searched on the Play Store and can not find the Genesis app anywhere. I can do a google search on my pc or using firefox on my smart phone and can find the app but can't download it from these sites. I looked on my Nexus 7 tablet play store and can't find it there either. I have tried every combinations of Genesis, Intelligent, Intelligence, Assistant, App and can not find it. I think my problem is I am not smart enough to use a smart phone. My Doctor just told me that 70 years old is officially when you become OLD. Well I am past there.
Could someone actually look and make sure the app is in the app store? If you find it could you tell me exactly what you entered to find it.

Thanks a bunch,

Thanks a bunch,

Search "Hyundai Genesis App" and it will come up.

Thanks Nikgen,

I went to the Play Store on my smart phone. I entered "Hyundai Genesis App" in the search bar but could not find the Genesis app that I had before. The Blue Link app was there, An app for the Genesis coupe radio system, and a lot of other things, but not the remote start Genesis App. I'm calling it the remote start app for lack of anything else to call it.

I'll get one of my grand kids to find it for me.

Thanks for trying.

It is called the "Genesis Intelligence App". It will only show up in search on devices it is compatible with. I was able to find it by searching for "hyundai". I don't think it is compatible with tablets.

That's odd, as here's what I get with that exact search term (in fact, this is the ONLY search term that finds the app in the Google Play Store on my Galaxy Tab S2 - which is not even compatible with the app):

As above, I find it on my tablet even though it states it is not compatible with my tablet. However, to your point, it does say this:

"Android version 4.4 and higher required. Supported Devices: Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge+, S5, S4, Note 5, Note 4, Note 3, HTC One, Nexus 6, Nexus 5, LG G4, and G3. Compatible Devices: Note Edge, Galaxy S3, Droid Turbo, Moto X, and Droid Maxx."

I'm running Android version 5.1.1 - so maybe the Op is not finding the app because they are running an older, incompatible version of Android?

BTW - Op said it appeared to be only for 2015, but it is for both model years as it says this too:

"Connect to your 2015 and 2016 Hyundai Genesis and access your Blue Link features."

Nikgen, Thanks for your help.
I think we may be on to something now.
I have an LG Escape2 smart phone which is not listed as a Supported Device.
It is running Android 5.1.1, which is supported.
This whole thing got started because I was having problems with the Genesis app. Maybe Hyundai got a lot of calls about the LG Escape2 and listed it as "Not compatible". That might be why the Genesis App is not listed when I do the same search you do. My list of apps is exactly like yours EXCEPT the Genesis app is not there.
I am both HAPPY about this (it means I am not going crazy) and SAD (I would like to have the app).
My daughter got this phone for me, and pays the bill on it and I would never look a gift horse in the mouth (old southern phrase) so I would not ask her to get me another phone.
I will keep checking and maybe Hyundai or LG will do an update that allows the LG Escape2 to work. I won't be holding my breath.

Thanks again,
