  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My Genesis Connected Services is expiring next month, it’s been a fast 3 years.
I have the option to renew the 3 packages - Connected Care, Remote and Guidance for $178/yr (that’s with the 40% discount).
I have 16,000 miles on my GV80, only trips to the dealership are for regular maintenance and 2 recalls. Love the car, no plans to sell.
Any thoughts on renewing the Genesis Connected Service? I haven’t needed or used much of the services yet, but, of course, things tend to pop up when the warranties and service agreements have just expired. If it included the Concierge Services, it would be an immediate renewal, too bad it’s not included.
It’s not about the cost, I can spend that on coffee in a month! I’m only looking for some thoughts, advice or options on the GCS renewal.
Thanks!

Yet? What do you expect to change in the future. Haven’t you answered your own question?
I use it all the time.

Handy, but expensive for the whole works. I had a remote starter installed. That was the main function for me. The remote with fob was easier and faster to use.
Few times a years I'd use the "send to car" feature for navigation. I don't see the need if you have and use a remote starter.

I use it a lot in the summer. On the golf course with the temps hitting 100+ it is nice to take out my phone after the 17th hole, turn on the AC and have the car comfortable when I get there after finishing the hole/round. The fob doesn't work from that far away.

I use mine all the time. I would not think of letting it run out.
I leave my car in airport and cruise parking lots all the time and like to check in on my car to see if it is still there and if the battery % is enough to start my car on long trips. (an issue with these cars) Where I live, it is hot and I like to remote start my car from ranges greater than the fob remote will allow. I will start my car from the restaurant or the checkout line so my car is nice and cool. I also like getting a text if I forgot to lock my car and I can just lock it from the phone. I pay less for 3 years that I paid for one year on my Audi and you got nothing with an Audi, well at least in my 2018. I hear they have remote start now, probably because they can charge for it.

But that is me. There is another guy on here that has no use for any of it. Two people with two different opinions. It is all about what you want.

Original fob, no. Aftermarket remote fob, yes. They claim a 3 mile range. I don't think they have an EV model though.

Jhon, before you start attributing opinions to other members (like me), please double check that you have your facts right. I never posted anything like that.

Bill, sorry, I said I think it was you, but your right, I should do more research. I will correct my post. I wonder who I am thinking of?

I lost all connective services last August. I do not miss it at all.
Only draw back is OTA updates, but, as I normally download & install, it's no great loss.
The weather on the right of the infotainment screen is also lost, but it was usually wrong anyhow.
Route guidance and their map is a joke--worthless!

I get all I want from the remote on my fob and Apple CarPlay using Waze (uses Google Maps) or Apple Maps.
Many weather apps on my phone!

Unless Genesis finally relents (doubtful) and makes it free, They'll not get my renewal!
My 'protest' that newer Genesis vehicles get it free, but we early adopters need to pay.

Thanks for the info about the new buyers vs “old” buyers - I agree, many Corporate decisions project awful customer service. My discount offers from Genesis to renew have gone from 20% to 40%. Interested to see how low it goes. Never free.

Thanks for all of your feedback about GCS. I respect and appreciate this site for all of the advice and info I get, from all sides. That’s what makes it helpful & valuable.
I’ll let you know if they extend it for free 😆

I've gotten 60% off. I'm not from Vermont, but to Genesis: 'Live free or die'. :)

Can I ask how you receive a discount offer from Genesis please? My app shows a yearly undiscounted rate of $297 for all three services. My current subscription expires in February of next year.

Call connected services and ask. Not online.

Thank you. It sounds like I may have to negotiate with them if the discount ranges from 20 to 60%

Disregard this message, I tried to delete it, but could not.

From an eMail.
A week or so before expiration, they will email you.
If you let it lapse, they'll also eMail you after a week or two.

Let me save you a lot of grief. If you are planning to renew, do not wait until it lapses. It’s not trivial to get it restarted. Also if you don’t get an email, be sure to call them before it lapses

Mine come in an email from “Genesis Motor America”. The first one arrived in July, no discount, the 2nd one in August, 20% discount, the latest one in October with 40% discount. What’s next??
It came with a code and expiration date of Nov 7. Try the discount code STAYCONNECTED

Heads up- when you go to the Renew and Save link in the email to look at the details, it’s not an intuitive site. Sign in, go to “Yearly” box in upper right, put in the code and hit apply at the bottom, it will show the discount. You will only see the discount if you start in Yearly section. I knocked around with it and figured it out, but it should be much easier to buy something!

I agree with Mcc, it won’t hurt to ask, and definitely by phone. If the code above works online, even better!
