  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My year old 2012 Genesis has cut off on me numerous times when coming to a stop- did it recently on the interstate when traffic slowed due to road work; has cut off 3 times when approach a stop sign in my neighborhood. Have taken it to dealership numerous times and they cannot duplicate the issue. Ironically, a man took his Genesis in at the same time as me with the exact same issue.
I am thinking a fuel pump issue. Very frustrating!

No codes?

I had that happen to my '99 Dodge Dakota recently and found the ECM had an intermittent short in one of the circuit boards. It was in the circuit that "talks" to the engine and when it failed the engine is instructed to immediately shut down - not a good idea when whizzing along at 65 on a crowded freeway. It happened at both idle and at speed with both cold and hot engine. No codes were thrown on this event.

I also had this happen years ago on another car and the problem there was a deteriorating gasket in the fuel tank that plugged up a very small screen in the high pressure fuel pump. As the weather warmed it would happen more often and less in the winter. If this might be the problem you can test it by applying 3/4 to full throttle and seeing if the engine can hold the revs (in gear obviously and on a vacant road).

Sudden and unexpected loss of power is a serious safety issue. Escalate this issue up to the regional service manager immediately.

My early '09 Genesis had a similar issue that was remedied under warranty by a Throttle Body replacement. The throttle is computer controlled and there was a problem in the receiver embedded int he throttle body.

I had this problem with my '11 Genesis. It turned out to be a loose battery terminal. I kept tightening it and it kept loosening on its own. The dealer replaced the clamp and it hasn't happened since.

Thank you- the car is with the service dept right now- will give them your ideas!
