I'm really not interested in removing myself from the company of the proletariat driving their Sonatas and Elantras - I was one of those people before I traded my Sonata against the Genesis.
Far more important than a separate dealer stream is that the dealership - whether general Hyundai or all-Genesis - provide courteous and professional service. My Hyundai dealership does that. My colleague who drives an E Class has found the dealership experience to suck mightily - basically they view him as a walking open wallet and nothing more.
Also keep in mind that luxury dealership "perks" aren't free - they are baked into the price of the car. I'd rather keep the price low than spend money to subsidize pastries, cappuccinos, and leather lounge chairs for everyone else. I'm not looking to turn servicing into a social event. I drop off my car and get a return ride from the shuttle. I have better places to be than a car dealership regardless of how posh.
I would say your friend with the E class is more the exception than the rule
Mercedes benz service and dealership proposition is at the top of the pile
Granted..its not free
But the dealerships are generally very nice , fully staffed and include umpteen amenities...business centers, cappuccino bars..etc etc
In the bigger cities with the larger benz dealerships..they are typically quite opulent
If Hyundai wants to see any respectable volume in car that is over $70K
I just dont think their current dealer network set up is going to work
I think at that price and higher..people have different expectations and it seems are willing to pay more
Everyone understands its not free....but I think for the same reason you cant expect to readily sell a mansion that is built in the hood...at a certain price people have different expectations
I personally had a horrible buying experience with my Equus
Worst one, by far, I have ever had
One of the Hyundai dealership locally as well had not met expectations
I went to another further away...25 minutes...and they seem to be much better
Dealership is nothing special inside...but their service level is better
