  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Edmonton has launched the very first Genesis boutique store in Western Canada (and the first automotive boutique store in Edmonton). As we just opened up 4 days ago the store is still work in progress but at least you can take a close look at the vehicles there. Come check us out at the new mall, Premium Outlet Collection Edmonton International Airport if you're ever in the area!

Cant wait to come by !!

Congrats YEG!

Looks great!

Would look even better w/ a few CUV models on display (ha, ha).

Speaking of which, what are the plans when Genesis has its full lineup out (which can be up to as many as 10+ models)?

Or is that too distant in the future?

Gotta say, these mall-based showrooms make a lot more sense to me now that I understand the sales model in Canada. Checking out the car at the mall, then ordering online and having Genesis deliver it to your house is actually a pretty slick arrangement.

I stopped by on Sunday - the mall was actually pretty quiet. The cars look great in the boutique. You don't expect to see 5 cars parked in a showroom when you're in a mall, so it's definitely attention-grabbing. My only complaint is that there wasn't enough light shining on the Mallorca Blue to really show it off!

In the past, malls here would occasionally have cars from an assortment of local dealers on display. Nothing to really sell them but a good chance to look over a car without a salesman bugging you. Malls are dying though so I don't know how traffic will be in the future.

Hey @GenesisYEG - is the mall store going to be setting Genesis branded gear? Do they already have that kind of stuff? That kind of thing is huge for BMW and MB, and just wondering what the plan is in that regard.

We will definitely be stocking in Genesis swag in the near future! Just got my debit machine and am looking for a nice display case as well as some merchandise then they will definitely be for sale.

Edmonton is pretty much the mall capital of the Western Hemisphere. It is cold here so we have a ton of malls per capita, including the former largest mall in the world (still the largest in the Western Hemisphere).

How do you test drive? Do you like drive thru the mall around people. :ROFLMAO:

Have to test out the handling somehow. :p

You book a test drive and we come to you! I will also have a few demos parked outside the store for immediate test drives.

^ actually i was wondering that. do you know if each 'boutique' / dealer will have demos on hand? i have always preferred going to a site to look at various options/colours/trims, etc. it may just be easier to do then have to schedule multiple test drives using the come-to-you model.

I know the Mississauga one doesn’t.

Parking can often be an issue at boutique stores so it really depends on each one. Parking is one of the things I negotiated when opening up the store so I can have a good mix of popular trims/models permanently just outside the store as well as the personal demos that myself and certain staff members have. I used to go out and bring my GXM with me to do drives with multiple cars but we are getting busy to the point where I cannot leave the store as much as I want to -- the extra parking helps big time.

While the majority of malls have seen better times, high end malls in well-to-do areas are still doing well, if not thriving.

Tesla and Lincoln are 2 brands which have taken the mall boutique/showroom approach in the US.

The above is located at the Fashion Island Mall in Newport Beach.

And as noted, malls serve other purposes up north in Canada (as well as places like Minnesota).

Visited this location a couple of weekends ago; it was a really nice experience. It'll be even nicer when they get some power, but the service was outstanding and the cars looked great.

Any plans for a Mall store in Calgary?
Couldn't believe that fancy Lincoln Boutique in Newport Beach.
Feel sorry for the Salesman there as that Lincoln is such a disappointment

Thank you for the positive feedback! I look forward to helping you once we are fully functional. :)

Hi DJ,

Sorry I'm a little late to the launch party - congratulations! Your place looks great, and I'm sure you guys will do extremely well.

Love to talk sometime to trade boutique ideas. I've got a few, and you seem to have some great ones yourself!

Chris
