  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Model Type
Genesis G70
So, I took the advice of a member and lit up the genesis facebook page regarding the horrible ownership experience and I was immediately contacted.

Surprisingly, the rep acknowledged numerous similar complaints about the poor dealership experiences including lack of loaners, lack of valet service, poor customer service, poor technical knowledge and etc. He indicated that they have numerous complaints.

Unfortunately, he also acknowledged that it will take several years at least to make any improvements due to lack of clear expectations and legal contracts.

I reiterated all the issues including my wheel incident where a dealer curbed my wheel, tried to cover it up with paint, and then blamed me.

Well, although he admitted that they have little control over the dealerships, Genesis has offered to pay for my wheel repairs or get me a brand new wheel.

It is clear to me that corporate wants to make things better, they have little to no control and will do what they can to make happy owners so I applaud them for that. They know that this dealership issue is hurting them but their hands are tied it seems.

He did indicate that they are looking into pulling certs from dealerships who refuse to honor the Genesis ownership experience including loaners and valet service. But again said that there are legal battles and years of neglect to overcome. Very unfortunate.

I urge all of you who are experiencing dealership issues to post on the official genesis Facebook page!

Does every hyundai dealership can sell genesis cars in the US ?

Here in Montreal there is only 2 hyundai dealer around me that can sell those sexy Genesis. I have no complain to do about valet or any other service to my dealer. I even send message text to my sell representative when i do have questions.

I've heard that not everyone in the garage can work on a genesis here, they need to be certified.

So i dont know it works in the US, but you seems to have more problem with dealers than here!

Earlier this yr I also complained to connected services who in turn passed me on to corporate with those very same issues you mentioned. I asked for 4 new tires since my g80 lease was ending in 5-6 months and I would have had to replace them on my dime (lease ending bs) and they agreed to pay for them ($1200 value w/ wheel alignment). Yes it pays to voice your experiences as they do want to keep us coming back for more cars. I did re-lease the G70 as a result.

Not every Hyundai dealer can sell them, but too many do. Car dealers here have strong laws protecting them. The original plan for Genesis was 100 dealers but they have 400. Unlike Canada, they are independent businesses and Genesis has limited control.

They do have sales people and techs that have been trained and should be better skilled. I don't know the details, especially on routine things like tire rotation or an oil change that anyone in the shop should be able to handle.

There are some excellent dealers, but there are too many poor ones and you don't always know until after the deal is done. Genesis broke off a Hyundai model into a new brand. Unlike Toyota starting Lexus, they had a different set of rules to follow with their existing dealers. I'm sure some was poor planning but they also got hit with a lot of lawsuits making it a bigger mess.

I just posted in another thread about my attempts to buy and how poorly they’ve treated me. You’re confirming my suspicions that Genesis was afraid of this happening and while they want it to be a better experience, they’re stuck with these dealers that tarnish the brand.

Hope they can figure out how to mitigate. Their style, performance and pricing are unmatched. But they’re sorely lacking in positive customer experience at the dealerships.

Yeah, the guy I spoke with acknowledged that they are frustrated and disappointed in the amount of similar complaints but their hands are tied. They are looking into their options but says it will be years before things improve unfortunately.

While I am also somewhat frustrated by the dealer experience, I make myself remember that I do love the car and that the lack of muffins and fresh cookies in the waiting room and lack of a good service experience are really 1st world problems. I have owned Infiniti and Mercedes and while the service experience is way better at those brands, I definitely like what Genesis has done with the G70.

Yeah, I stay away from junk food, but I'd be totally happy with some competent repair and maintenance work and maybe a loaner vehicle of any type. I dont think that's asking too much. Oh, and for them to not scratch or ding my car, or ruin my wheels. In stock parts would be good too. I dont know, maybe I expected too much of this luxurious Genesis ownership experience...
