  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi all - its been just over 12 months since I got my G70, and I'm still really happy with it. Covid has curtailed my miles, so i'm only sitting at around 17,000km right now.

But, I'm experiencing a few niggles and want to see if others have noticed this too;
1) Remote start feature stopped working for no reason a few months ago, and I cant get it working again. Not sure why.
2) Occasionally, the seat belt warning comes on when no one is sat in the front passenger seat. I can click the belt in/out again, but it doesnt go away. Doesnt happen all the time, but clearly a fault somewhere
3) Windshield chips. I'm now on to my 5th chip repair already, which is more than I've ever had on any vehicle before. It's more than I've had in the last 5 years I reckon. Anyone else have this issue? Granted, I'm in Canada, but we've not had a particularly cold winter by usual standards, but this seems unusual.

Apart from the above, the car is great and I'd gladly get another Genesis in future, but the above are possible signs of the quality difference between Genesis and the German brands.
Any input/experiences welcomed.
thanks!

I have a 2019 G70 3.3T with 4000 miles. I bought it used from the dealer in Jan.

I noticed the other day that the door seal on the driver side is a bit deformed near the top. Also, I think there may be other door seal issues as I swear there is some wind noise. I've not been in any other G70 to compare, but when on the highway with stronger side winds, I think I can hear air leakage in near the windows.

I find the exhaust drone at certain highway speeds annoying. May look into some sound deadening in the trunk to see if that can reduce it. I find the exhaust note odd. The noise is louder than I would expect in a luxury sedan (e.g. A4, C-class or 3-series) but not as loud as the sports version of the German competitors. I drove a E36 and it rattles and pops. My neighbors S4 also has a few pops.

no issue with windshield chips here (knocking on wood as i type that). i'm in Canada too. it'd be a bit of an odd coincidence to suddenly be attracting flying rocks unlike your past vehicles, but maybe that's all it is. i know certain regions have changed their winter road maintenance grip aggregate and that has caused increased chips, etc

I don't notice any droning from my exhaust. On what setting is your active engine sound? I find the settings I've tried to be quite quiet or unnoticeable but I haven't tried all of them.

I've only used the remote start a few times, without issue, although it's less convenient than having it in the key fob.
I did get a chip in the windshield fairly early on, but haven't gotten any more in the last year - but not that many miles and not commuting to work anymore, so... I got them in my 3 series as well, so I don't think it's any worse. However I am seeing a slight scratch from the wipers, so maybe the glass is "soft"?
I also found, soon after buying the car, that the driver's door seal wasn't properly installed along the top. I was able to correct it pretty easily, but it didn't make a good first impression from a quality control standpoint. (All the plastic wrap protectant that the dealer left around the base of the seats and door sills didn't impress me either.)

The remote start stopped on mine as well approximately a month ago for no apparent reason. I only get a "We apologize, but your request could not be processed, Please try again." message. emailed the customer care, no response yet.

Currently on my 4th windshield. that could be just bad luck.

The top chrome strip on front window on passenger side manages to slide itself back and gets jammed with the trim that continues on the rear door. This prevents the door from being opened. I got used to tapping it back using rubber mallet back into place.

Apart from the oil at the bell housing, noticed some oil seeping at the engine oil pan seal during the last oil change.

This is my second battery (first one failed spectacularly within the first 6K kms and was replaced under warranty). The current one has started to have high internal resistance - so discharges pretty fast (10% a day).

I'm out of all warranties but for the 24hr road side assist and anti perforation warranty.

What year and model?
