Genesis G90 Overall Satisfaction

I lease a new 2017 Genesis G90. I have had 2 prior Equus Ultimate's. Enjoy the car except for the tires. have had nothing but trouble with the tires, not sure if anyone else has or is having similar problems. Also, recently I have been getting false warnings from my instrument cluster about low tire pressure and in one warning said my tire pressure was zero. having had tire issues in the past with all three vehicles I naturally get panicked, and so does my wife. I also am getting false warnings about being too close to an object when parked or stopped at a light with plenty of room in front of me or no one in front of me.

I’ve read several complaints about the tires. But if you’re getting erroneous pressure readings, you should have the monitoring system checked out. I sometimes see false proximity warnings, but they’re rare and inconsistent.

I have had several Equus Ultimates with no tire or sensor issues. My recent
G90 Ultimate so far no issues either.

Turned out not to be a false warning as when i took my car out yesterday i had a dead flat front passenger tire. so, called roadside assistance and had the donut put on. now tomorrow i am going to change all the tires on my car. this is the 3rd flat among two Eqqus Ultimates and one, relatively new Genesis G90 5.0...

Continental tires flat spot overnight and are noisy. Can hear too much road noise when I sit in rear and wife is driver. We take turns being the driver and rear seat passenger
thinking about replacing with Michelins

New owner here.... switched over from 740i.
Main complaint has been a kind of a jiggly ride on the highway, but it does seem to smooth out after awhile, and is less noticeable later in the day when it's warmer. And yes, car is specced with Conti Sport Contacts.
Even though the car seems an amazing value, my disappointment in the highway ride and my comfort level with BMw for all those years had me secretly considering selling in a month or two for a new 7. But before I do that I thought I'd set up an appointment with my local wheel and alignment specialty shop, which I'd already scheduled a few days from now.
Not thrilled about springing for a new set of tires, but if this will take care of it, it's a whole lot less costly than the reaming I'd take on a trade in a month or two.

I ordered an AMG E63 and it was delivered with Conti's on it and I refused to take delivery until they changed the tires to Michelin Pilot Sports. I had Conti's on my an another car and they were at best horrible. You will be better off swapping the tires than selling your car. You Will take it in the shorts without the Vaseline

I’ve owned two G80’s (a 4.6 and a 5.0) and now I have a 2018 G90 Ultimate. I was never enamored with Continental tires but after hearing some of the horror stories from people in this forum and about a Continental tire blowout on my friend’s new G80 Sport on Rt I81, I decided to fix it.

I drive between Florida and CT each year (snow birds). 1300 miles each way worrying about changing a blowout (I’m too old for that) or emptying a packed trunk to retrieve that pitiful donut spare was too much. I tossed the factory rubber and replaced them with Michelin run flats (can’t offhand remember the Michelin numbers but there are very few that come in both sizes needed for the G90). The cost was about $1400 but I wasn’t price shopping. I also had Michelin run flats on my dozen or so 7-Series BMWs and they were fine.

After 3500 miles on the Michelin’s I’d say the ride is slightly harder than the Continentals but feels a whole lot safer. I will say that you do have to be careful about one “feature” with RFT’s, especially on long drives through pothole country. I once had a blowout with a Michelin RFT on one of my BMW’s. Apparently I drove on it for 30 miles without even knowing. It wasn’t until I stopped for gas and noticed one tire slightly lower that I realized it was actually flat. The inside wall was shredded in fact!

These days if I hit a pot hole or am driving in pothole country I keep the tire pressure display up on the screen. That way if there is a tire problem you can see it immediately because, believe me, you may not necessarily always feel it.

Dumb question:. Do our cars even have a spare of any kind? A donut? I haven't even checked?

My G90 has a "donut" spare under the floor in the trunk. Unfortunately, when driving to Fl or CT the trunk is packed and the spare is truly unavailable. The decision to go RFT seems logical to me.

I can appreciate your choice. Making about the same trip, I came out of the hotel to a flat. Roadside assistance came out and would change the tire, but I had a better idea. There was a place I could get it repaired a mile down the road. The guy filled it with air and over pressured a bit so I could drive to the repair shop. If course, that was a screw in the tire so I could do it. With a blowout or sidewall puncture I'd be screwed and have to empty the trunk.

I keep a 12 volt air pump in the trunk. That should get me to a shop for anything but a blowout. I don't think about blow outs because I have never had one in my lifetime during which I have driven nearly 500,000 miles. Perhaps my luck is running out.

Going to the shop tomorrow for installation of new Michelin PS A/S 3s. I sure hope they take of highway jiggles, because if not, car is going bye bye and I'm going to lose my arse!
