If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Genesis G90 Overall Satisfaction

Selo, please expand on your thoughts on the Michelin Tire you purchased. Did you get directly from Dealer?

I didn't bother to try. I've been down those paths before, and they take so much energy, and are full of so much negative emotion that I just didn't have it in me. I live a few hundred miles from the dealership, which complicates things. If I were local to them, then I might have given it a shot, but the fact is, trying to get my local dealer to sign off on the fact that the tires are bad, and then get Genesis to pay for new tires, it just wasn't worth it. I'm choosing to look at it that the car cost me around $30, 000 less than a comparable 7 Series, so paying a thousand bucks for a new set of tires isn't the end of the world. Buying a Genesis was a gamble for me. If the tires didn't take care of the ride problem, I was going to get rid of it Pronto, and try to forget about the five or ten Grand I lost as quickly as possible, and move on. Life's too short.

Wow. Now it feels like it's supposed to. Mission accomplished.
Can you expand on your assessment? What improvements are you experiencing in the areas of ride and road noise?

Noise was never the problem. It felt like I was riding on marbles a lot of the time. Not quite a vibration, but jiggly. I'm pretty sensitive to ride issues, and I've had problems with warped brake rotors, rims that are subtly bent, tires that don't Road force balance, Etc in the past. This felt like one of those issues. I made an appointment with my local Wheel & Tire Specialists to check Road force balance, but then when I opened this thread, and heard people chiming in about the Continental sport contacts developing flat spots overnight, and the other gentleman refusing to take delivery of his E Class until they put michelins on it, Bingo, it all added up. Rather than waste time trying to Road force balance inferior tires that have likely been sitting on the lot for 6 months, I decided to not waste any time, and go all out from the start. I'm so glad I did. I've had the car up around 80 a couple times and it feels like I'm driving on glass, which I'm sure is the way this car is intended. Would a road force balance have improved the sport contacts? Probably. should Earnhardt have done a better job testing and prepping the car before they delivered it? Absolutely. but if I had chosen to take on either of those routes, I'd still be frustrated and dealing with negative energy right now instead of enjoying my nice new car.

Which Michelins did you put on, the A/S ones? If so, did you consider one of the Pilot Sport summer tires?

AS3. Looked at comparison between PSS and AS3 as to noise and comfort and went with the highest ratings. I don't intend to drive this car even remotely aggressively.

Glad you got it taken care of to your satisfaction, though I haven't experienced the problem with a jiggly ride that you described with the Contis. When the time comes to replace them, though, I'll probably go with Michelin as well.

Okay, so I completed half of my daily commute, and now it's understandable why they Spec V sport contacts instead of the michelins. On the way from Albuquerque to Santa Fe with the sport contacts, I was able to average approximately 24. 5 MPG, with the tires and approximately 36 PSI. With the new tires at approximately 36 PSI, I averaged 23 MPG. Apparently, while they are more comfortable and quieter and have a much better ride, they are also softer and have more rolling resistance, and don't give Genesis the mpg ratings they need.

Selo, it's probably too late, but just in case, you might consider keeping one of the OEM tires, buying an OEM wheel off Ebay, and pairing them to make a full-sized-spare. In the G80 anyway, a full-sized spare will fit in the well in the trunk. It fits snugly, but it fits.

Is that why Conti tires are popular with OEM's; because they yield better gas mileage?

Definitely.....kept all 4. Thinking of doing just that.

How is Earnhardt treating you?
Good service?
how's the dealership experience after purchase?
Service dept. sucks where I'm at

I live in Albuquerque so I won't be able to take it back to Earnhardt for service. My practice has a Hyundai Tucson and I can tell you my local Hyundai dealers have been less than ideal - service shops always on the upsell. That's another reason it was such a leap of faith to buy the Genesis. I love my service writer at BMW - just couldn't stomach the MSRP of a new 7. More accurately, couldn't stomach the depreciation.

Since rear tire is wider than front which one would you keep as a spare? I presume a front tire as it would be more likely to fit in spare tire compartment and should work ok on rear for a while?

Good point. I see you're a detail guy! I hadn't gotten that far yet. All 4 are sitting in my storage unit.

Hmm good point. I have a 245 as my spare and it fits in the compartment (with a slight rise in my trunk floor). I hadn't considered the 275 rear size, but I still believe 245 even in the back would be a lot better than whatever size that donut is though :D

Can you tell me how much higher the floor of the trunk rises with the real spare tire? We're talking about a G90 right? Another question, does it fit snug into the opening, would you anticipate any difficulty getting it out of the storage hole because of tightness?

I have a Genesis sedan, so you're right to inquire if it could be different. If you wanted to be 100 percent certain, I'm sure you could find a Discount Tire or a NTB when they weren't busy and ask them to see if they had the same sized tire around to see if it fit. I would however be a little surprised if it didn't also fit in the G90.

As for the second question, it is a tad tight in the opening and when it comes down to it, eventually you are at some level lifting a tire and an alloy wheel from your trunk, but I didn't find it unmanageable, but I realize that's entirely dependent on one's physical health. I injured my back a few years back and though it's fine now, there's no way I could have managed it then. In that case I would have just used one of my free Genesis roadside assistance calls :).

Could you provide more details regarding the improvement of the new Michelin tires? Compared to the OEM Continental tire, is the ride more refined? How about the small vibrations (jiggle), does it get solved?
