  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Is anyone as disappointed as I am that Genesis plans to go all-EV by 2025.
As an owner of two Genesis vehicles, I have zero interest in an EV.
I guess they plan to lose a current enthusiastic, loyal customer to chase the green dream.

Agree! I won’t be following, either.

I have a hard time believing they'll be able to produce enough vehicles to justify having stand alone dealerships. It doesn't make sense to me at this point. I accept that EV is the future but I don't believe it's the immediate future.

In the UK from 2030, and in the EU from 2035 the sale of new petrol and diesel vehicles will be banned.

I'm disappointed as well. I believe however that they are not planning to be zero-emission until 2030. The 2025 date iirc is to have an EV variant of each model that is sold as a new car. Genesis ICE development has stopped, but production won't until after 2025.

Here's an article that I used for reference:

I believe the announcement was fall of 2021 as most publications I found commenting on this subject are dated for that time.

Thanks for some sensibility.

The only thing more scary than having a Hyundai shop service an ICE vehicle is depending on a Hyundai shop for EV service!

although, they might offer lifetime complimentary EV oil changes 😆😆

They've been selling production EVs for 5 years without much if any incident. The 2019 Hyundai Kona was North American Utility Vehicle of the year. The Ioniqs haven't had much issue either. There isn't much to "maintain" with EVs. That's one of the reasons they are pushing to change from combustion. It also resets brand expectations in a lot of peoples minds. Cadillac is doing the same and going all EV for much of the same reasons, but also to try to become relevant again.

Depending on market, will continue selling ICE after 2025.

Genesis needs to look into prolonging the lifespan of their ICE models by adding a 48V, if not a proper hybrid system.

I know with Audi they made a similar statement, but if you read it closely, they did not say they were getting rid of gas engines, they just said they would not develop any new ones.
