Genesis GV90: Redefining Luxury in SUVs

The prototype of a Genesis GV90, featuring a near-final production design, was already seen and is poised to leave Hyundai’s R&D Center soon for real-world testing. The GV90, developed under the project name “JG1,” represents Hyundai’s ambitious entry into the high-end SUV market. It aims to challenge luxury rivals such as the Mercedes-Benz GLS and BMW X7. Packed with groundbreaking technologies and an opulent design ethos, the GV90 sets a new benchmark for luxury and innovation.

The lineup will feature:

• Standard Model: Equipped with conventional doors, ensuring wider appeal and practicality.
• Exclusive Variant: Incorporating pillarless coach doors, a hallmark of ultra-luxury vehicles like Rolls-Royce. This variant will be produced in limited numbers, catering to an elite clientele.

Progress at R&D Center: Production Prototype and Road Tests​

After overcoming design challenges, including issues with the innovative coach door mechanism, the production prototype is now in its final stages of development. The R&D Center in Namyang has reportedly resolved previous issues related to door functionality during turns. With a reinforced body design and advanced hinge technology, the prototypes are ready for final validation tests on public roads. Read more and see photos here.
