  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I went to Genesis if Henderson. The rep was nicer than the other dealer I went to but they have all of their G70s marked up by $3,000. And the Veloster N they have in the show room is marked up $5,000. They have a right to mark up how they wish. But they also have to deal with being called out as an abhorrent dealership wanting to take your money.

At least some dealers have the decency to put on $10 of pin stripe tape for $99 but no way would I ever consider market adjustments.

Did you tell them that they will need to remove that markup should you decide to purchase one? I think we have a member here who bought from them and told them they had to remove a markup and they did.

Don't hate the player, hate the game.

I’ll address that when the time comes as I only want the manual, which hasn’t yet become available. And I’m even second guessing that since I wasn’t too impressed with the 2.0T. And it would be a replacement for a modified ‘16 Mustang GT. Don’t know if I would be happy with the drop in performance.

And frankly, the more I deal with Genesis the more I feel they have TOTALLY dropped the ball on the brand rollout and don’t know if they’ll survive. Still several states without dealers, the only dealers I’ve dealt with have been atrocious, and now they’re reporting that many dealerships won’t even see 2019 MY cars. Maybe it’s worth waiting for the Lexus IS redesign for 2021 with the rumored new 2.5T engine.

Seems like you may be getting some incorrect information. The G70s with manual transmissions have been available for awhile and a number of dealers have them in stock. I don't know who is reporting that many dealerships won't see the MY 2019s but I have a feeling someone is just telling tales. I follow the dealership situation fairly closely and have never heard that. Once a state/dealership has been approved, they get inventory within a fairly reasonable time period.

I have yet to find a manual listed anywhere online. The dealers I’ve spoken with said the manuals aren’t here yet. And someone else posted this earlier.

The Genesis G70 Is Finally Arriving But Is It Too Late?

Utah was supposed to have this car 9 months ago. They screwed up the paperwork and haven’t been able to get a single dealership established to sell the G70. I get month updates from a salesman saying “Sorry. Still delayed. No idea when we’ll get them.”

Well what do you know. Just searched autotrader and few finally popped up. Only a few, but at least they’re here. Time to start making some phone calls.

They are incorrect. The manuals are all over the place. Try using car gurus, search for G70s and chose manual.

New 2019 Genesis G70 for Sale in Salt Lake City, UT - CarGurus

You are confusing dealers not getting inventory and dealerships becoming franchised. Obviously that process has been taking much longer than it should but has been moving along fairly quickly recently. There are some states that have yet to get approved but to say dealerships will not be getting 2019s is totally false at this point.

I apologize if I stated things incorrectly but I’m not confusing the two. I was going off of what I’ve been told by several potential dealers in Utah. They said they cannot finalize their franchise so they cannot sell the G70 yet. Both separate dealers told me it was an issue with the paperwork filing with the state. September turned into October into December into early 2019 and now a big “we don’t know.” Trust me, I’m rooting for them to get it sorted. I’ve worked with these dealers before and doubt they’ll try and pull what others so far have.

Yes you are plus no where in that paragraph or anything else does it say that dealers will not be getting MY2019s. Just trying to give you accurate information not what dealers; or potential dealers, are saying. History has shown that they give incorrect information close to 100% of the time in this dealer rollout situation.

Then would you please explain that difference? If they can’t franchise then obviously they can’t get inventory.

I think perhaps you missed something in my initial posts. That is exactly what I have been saying to you. They are not franchised so they can't receive inventory for that reason.

I have been disputing your statement that it was reported that some dealers will not be receiving MY2019s. There is no truth to that whatsoever as far as I know and no one on this forum has ever said that and that has not been published anywhere.

Why I say you are confusing the two is because you are talking about the dealers in Utah you are communicating with as if they are Genesis dealers and aren't getting inventory. That is not correct, while Genesis has a distributor license in Utah, no franchises have been approved. Those dealers may get a franchise in the future but currently it is not correct to say they are a dealer without inventory.

Maybe it’s the internet/inferrring tone thing but your posts seem pretty angry. I’m in no way trying to start a fight. I really just wanted to figure out what’s going on. I’ve been on most of the genesis related message boards and have been communicating with multiple dealers. Perhaps I misinterpreted what they were saying.

My confusion comes from them having rows and rows of G80s and G90s for sale but then saying they aren’t a franchised dealer and can’t sell yet.

Not angry at all, just trying to be accurate. What do you mean by that? Where are you seeing rows and rows of G80s and G90s and can't sell? Are you sure you aren't looking at 2018s? Those can be sold at any time since they don't need a Genesis franchise to do so.

Edit: Just wanted to clarify that the "What do you mean by that?" was referring to seeing the rows and rows and not saying I was angry. :)

That may be the issue. All four dealers (technically two since each one has a sister branch) have G90s and G80s for sale. Genesis of Murray even has their own website listing new inventory (which has been slowly dwindling). If the situation is such that they can sell 2018s but not 2019s, that makes sense. But they’ve been referring to themselves as “Genesis of XXXXX.” Maybe that was just a premature move by them? Oh well. At least this makes more sense now.

Now that I think back on it, “not this year” during a conversation with a salesman may have been in reference to calendar year and not model year.

Yes, that makes sense and is probably the case. Prior to the 2019MY there were dealerships that were named Genesis selling Genesis vehicles as well as Hyundai dealers selling them but starting with model year 2019 all franchises must be redone. Any 2017 or 2018 Genesis model can be sold by Hyundai or Genesis dealers.

Genesis Motors became their own entity and due to that, they had to apply to each state to get a manufacture/distributor license. Once they got that license (they now have it in all 50 states) they then can offer franchises to dealerships. Those dealerships then need to go through the process of getting a license with the state and agreeing on and finalizing the new franchise agreement. Once all of that is complete then they can get 2019s and sell them.

That process has been taking some time due to bureaucracy, lawsuits, negotiations etc. There is no doubt whatsoever that Genesis screwed up the new dealer network rollout because of arrogance, poor planning, slow reaction, etc. but it is now moving. There are currently 166 dealers in 31 states so they are getting there. Dealers with 2019s

I understand your frustration with the situation and there are still many people in the same boat. Hopefully they continue at the pace they have been having recently and you see some 2019s near you soon. Keep an eye on that link above as I try an post new states that get approved soon after they are.

Good luck with your quest.
