  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Short but unpleasant experience.

So I do an inventory search on Genesis website and it shows the exact trim and color I’m looking for (3.3 Sport SI RWD). Called them and spoke to Lawrence, and he confirms yes they have it, and yes they accept circle A certificate. I tell him I’m ready to buy and ask about the conquest rebate from Genesis. As I understand, others from this forum have been successful in getting conquest and other rebates applied on top of circle A. He checks with manager and says that they can’t do conquest rebate in addition to circle A. I think that’s wrong and figure what the hell, I’ll go in and maybe he’ll change his tune if there’s a sale sitting right in front of him.

So I make the hour plus drive from OC to Loma Linda in Friday evening traffic. I get there and he immediately points me to a 2.0.

No, I called about the 3.3. Genesis shows that you have it in stock.
Sorry, we only have 2.0.
Pull out my circle A certificate with VIN number.
He starts walking around trying to find it. Lo and behold it was sitting in the front of the store on display!
Checks with his manager, no they don’t accept circle A on 3.3s, only 2.0s.
Lame. I leave and learn my lesson about bait and switch.

Will definitely not be doing business with Genesis of Loma Linda ever.

That sucks, they should have just been honest with you from the beginning rather than trying to get you to go for a 2.0 or a 3.3 without the Circle pricing. Hopefully another dealer near you gets yours in soon.

Thanks TB. Am I right in thinking that lots of forum members have been getting Genesis rebates (loyalty, conquest) in addition to Circle A? Is it the dealers discretion whether or not they want to apply the rebates on top of Circle A?

You are correct. We have had members who were able to use a rebates as well as get the base money factor/finance rate. There were also those who were able to get Circle pricing, use a rebate but not get base MF/financing. Then there was the group you were in, only Circle A and no Genesis incentives. The worse was the dealers who choose not to accept Circle pricing.

There's a plethora of G70's in SoCal so I wouldn't settle for any dealer that will not give you the conquest discount on top of the Circle A pricing. It gets annoying to speak circularly, but I would always 2x/3x check their facts when calling. No point in wasting gas for them to pull this kind of BS.

I know it may be hard to find your exact spec sometimes, so if you find a dealer that is willing to play ball, you can always ask for a dealer swap. It usually runs $800-$1000, so it kinda negates your conquest discount.

I had posted this in another thread, but it applies here too. I don't know why some dealerships give people such problems with the Circle Pricing. The dealers get reimbursed and I have used the Circle Plan 3 times now. (I forgot 1 on my previous post). Twice was Plan A (1 Hyundai and 1 Genesis G80) and one was Plan E on Hyundai (Thanks to Mr. Krafcik when he was still around).

I read them and as I verified with the dealer, require them to give you whatever incentives are available in addition to the Circle Plan pricing. Dealers who refuse to abide by this are just not acting in good form. I never once was given a problem, though I admittedly used the same dealer each time.

Circle A-Plan
Circle A-Plan is Hyundai's friends & family discount.
Who's eligible: Extended family members, friends and corporate vendors & suppliers to Hyundai Motor America (HMA). Employees of certain affiliated companies may also be eligible.
How it's calculated: Invoice (includes destination and advertising fee) - 3% of MSRP (excludes destination) - $250 Circle Cash - Current Incentives
What you should know: Incentives can vary month to month and differ based on your region. Be sure to check the latest incentives to get a good estimate of what your final price will be.

Circle E-Plan
Circle E-Plan is for current and retired corporate employees of Hyundai Motor America (HMA).
Who's eligible: Current or retired employees of HMA and their immediate family.
How it's calculated: Invoice (includes destination and advertising fee) - 4% of MSRP (excludes destination) - $400 - E-Plan Circle Cash (varies by model)
What you should know: Unfortunately, taking E-Plan means giving up normal advertised incentives in favor of Circle Cash, which varies by model (and trim) and is unadvertised. At the time of this writing, amounts for popular models include up to $3,500 off a 2017 Elantra Limited to $6,250 off a 2017 Sonata 2.0T Limited and $7,000 off a 2017 Santa Fe Sport 2.0T Ultimate.

Plan "E" means giving up advertised incentives, Plan "A" does NOT.

I actually asked him, “Don’t you guys get reimbursed for this anyways?”

He said they would lose money giving circle A on the V6s, which makes no sense to me, and was trying to push me over to the 2.0Ts.

My guess is that either they don’t really know how it works, or since they’ve only had the model in for about a week, they wanted to roll the dice and see if they get get MSRP+ from some other sucker.

It's likely that the 2.0 inventory doesn't move as well as the 3.3 so they want to push that. My dealer likes to pretend they lost money on my deal too but let's face it, they just want any excuse to try to get some more money out of you
