If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I purchased my 4.6 w/tech 11/15/08. Since that day I probably haven't missed one day that I didn't drive it except if away. Today Ihave 30,000. Yesterday I drove the Equus signature andfound it to be a great vehicle. Immediate difference Inoted were absolute quietness. The massage on my back was pleasant and I am sure I would love it when the sciatica happens. It appeared "bigger" in and out. Suspension was notably softer. On the road, she responded as wellas my car, cornered as well, Audio the same. All maintenance save tires are "free" for 50K miles. It EXCEPT I can't put my hands around the $20,000 difference. $10,000 ok. Mydealer has had 4 so far and all went quickly at sticker. No bump up! But none of the purchasers were previous Genesis owners. That is the big question. Is the Equus $20,000 better then the Genesis 4.6? I don't think so. I really would like to know of the Equus purchasers were trading in their Genesis. I guess I will wait for a demo next year. Maybe I am wrong. I could write a check for the car but just don't see the value difference.

I tend to agree with all you wrote (though the Lexicon sounds even better due to the quiet!), including the price spread between the 2.

That said, the reality is SOME dealers ARE actually dealing. As the spread gets closer to $10K or $12K between the Gen and Horse, the Horse looks a LOT better! More here:

Wow, even quieter than the Genesis? Amazing.
I know the windows of the rear half are all laminated on the Equus, but they must've used better/more sound insulation in the body as well.

Also, I thought the Lexicon of the Equus were more powerful @ 608 watt (vs. the 528watt system on the Genesis).

Definitely quieter.
And yes, 608 watt which is for sure a bump over the '09 Gen. But perhaps later MY's have the same? Either way, it sounds better to me.

Ive heard that previous Genesis owners are getting very good trade in values when they go for the Equus. Im holding off for the 2012 Equus myself.

USAA has 'their' price, zip 91710, at $59,693. Seems a good starting point for negotiations.

That would be nice. Wouldn't be surprised if that has the corporate Hyundai backing. Sell a new luxury Hyundai, and have another gently used, near luxury Hyundai to sell. Helps to gain market share.

Having started this thread, I went back to the dealer and just wanted to see what kind of trade in I could get. The car never left the parking spot and after 15 minutes I sat down with the general sales manager who showed me a print out of what the car was going for at auction. The closest one was inDallas. Based on the print out the trade in would be just under $25,000. I was disappointed as #1 I bought the car there 11/15/08 for $39,000 and faithfullygo to service there every 3Kmiles. I still owe about $15,000 on my car which is bl/saddle brown. I love the car whichis why I have 31,000 in 26 months! This was the signature model that they had available. After going there I can now rest easy and no more coulda/shoulda/didn't!!!!
Interestingly I get a form letter 5 days letter that I am a valued customer of Hub Hyundai and they have a shortage of Genesis for resale and are running a special til January 31 of $27,360! Still too much to finance. I pay $667 now @ 1.9% for a total of 4 years.

Under $25,000 as the trade in value? That is rather scary. That really helps in my decision making process. If that is all I can expect to get for a trade, the Genesis is staying right where it is with me. If you really wanted to make a move, you probably would do somewhat better trying to sell the vehicle yourself.

This is why I have not traded in a vehilce since 1988, and would not have then except we had a bad p.o.s. 1986 Mercury Sable that my wife did not want to sell to anyone and saddle them with a p.o.s. I also keep a good car until about 225,000 miles then sell it. I kept a Toyota wagon for about 10 years and sold it with 285,000 miles on it (never needed any drivetrain repairs).

That would be the smartest way to purchase/sell vehicles, but I have a thing for new cars. :D
I get this itch to trade in my perfectly fine, pampered car for a newer model.
Probably why not the worst financial decision.
I've decided to keep the Genesis for a long time until I am able to purchase a new car without financing.
