  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just test drove the 2012 genesis (very nice). I was thinking that I would buy the platinum (silver) car but when I saw the black noir I was really taken with it. It looks so sharp. For those of you who own a black genesis do you have any regrets?

Cheers,
Newman

Absolutely no regrets with balck on black. Even in Houston (2 days at 105 already). Have 2010 4.6 Tech. Classy, executive look. I have totally rebadged and people love my mystery car. "What is that?" and my reply, "if you don't know, it is a mini Bentley".

Love my black, and no regrets. 103 degrees last Tuesday, but AC is great just like the rest of the car.

dark gray is the only other car i would buy this car in (white i guess but what a pita white cars are).

only regret i have is allowing the detailers at the dealership to touch the paint. it took me 2 days to get the holograms and swirls out (most of them). my advice to anyone buying a black genesis is make sure you have the dealer use a professional detailer to prep the paint, otherwise get another $250 off the car and take it to a detail shop that knows wth to do with a black vehicle. my car still had the white wrap all over it and somehow thy got deep scratches in the hood in the shape of a washmitt (larger circles) like a piece of sand or something was in the mitt.

in the sunlight before the correction it was pretty bad, now they're much more subdued (average person wouldn't see them). my car goes in for paint tomorrow (right rear door had a scratch from new) so i may mention the hood to them and see if they want to wet sand it some as you cannot feel the scratches so they should come out (i already wet sanded part of the hood but found another 2 areas with the same problem).

It's hard to keep really clean, but even a little bit dirty it still looks good. I'm not currently washing it as often as I ordinarily would because we've been getting rain every 2 or 3 days - as soon as I wash it it needs it again.

Black paint takes another level of car care necessary to keep it looking in showroom condition. If you're not neurotic, it probably wont bother you. If you have 6 different types of microfiber towels and multiple detailing polishers, it might drive you nuts. After my last one, I promised, never again. However, no question the car looks best in black.

No regrets, however, the old saying "I love a black car, I hate a black car" applies. I pretty much have to keep up with it every day to keep it looking nice.

Having a black car is like dealing with a 2 year old kid. You're constantly chasing after it, and it drives you insane. But if someone tried to take it from you, you'd kill them.

Had a black car once in 40 years of ownership. Never wanted another one. nuf said.

I love the black even though it requires more attention but when it is clean, "ain't nuttin" like it.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
With a black car its best to have the mobile car wash/detailing as one of your speed dial numbers.

I've always like black. My 2009 Genesis is awesome when clean But like all black cars that is an ongoing task... The Red Pearl was my second pick. (it would have my first if my wife had seen that one first.

Or make sure you have Weapons of Mass Reflection...

My 4.6 is the second black car that I have owned. My last car was a 1999 Black Buick Regal. That was one nice looking car, especially when just waxed. It was hard work to maintain that wet look because at the time, I didn't have a garage. I said that I would never buy another black car, but the Genesis looks so good in black that I just had to have it. My excuse is that now I have a garage.;)

Love the black on black.......only other colour I would have considered is Cabernet red but they were hard to come by.

The Genesis with a black mirror finish looks fabulous.......even though it requires copious amounts of TLC! ;)

The Genny is my first black car, but previous car was dark blue so little difference in keeping it clean.
Black on black with tinted windows & rebadged looks great and is very classy imho. All the chrome details stand out, unlike on a light colored car.
Planning on adding the chrome lower door mouldings (à la V8) one day.
No regrets here but I knew what I would be getting into as far as maintenance is concerned. I'm not OCD about it though, unlike a few here :)
