  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Model Type
Genesis G80
I'm a new registrant and have joined solely to try to gauge other Gensis owners experiences. I purchased a G80 a year ago and the car has, in my opinion, been "as advertised". Not German but a lot of bang for the buck. Unfortunately my Genesis experience as it relates to customer interface/experience has been dreadful. No dedicated Genesis dealership in Weatchester county NY. I don't understand how that is possible if Hyundai really has an interest in competing with Germany, Lexus, etc. As a result I've received a solid Elantra experience. I'm currently in an endless "case resolution" with MyGenesis where even they can't get the dealer to call me back.

Anyone have any suggestions as to how to get Genesis service or had similar experiences? I'm not a car snob, the car has been fine and I have no problem telling people "it's a Genesis" but this is so far from the level of service I expected (which was well less than promised!) I find it impossible to recommend the brand when asked "how do you like it".

Thanks

Welcome. If you read through some of the threads here you will see others have had similar experiences. You will also see that Genesis is going through a dealer revolution and converting from the Hyundai/Genesis setup to stand alone Genesis dealers. That transition is expected to take another 4 to 6 months.

Meantime, it is a crap shoot. There are some really good dealers out there but not enough of them. Coming soon, there should be one close to you and you can finally enjoy the Genesis experience. Your patience should be rewarded. Meantime, browse around here and you will find some good information about your car.

Thank you EdP. I know that's the promise, as a matter of fact I was assured by my dealer they would have a dedicated showroom by YE 2017, we'll see. Doesn't help me with my current issue and, frankly, that's all I care about right now.

I have not had any issues with my car other than a broken windshield. Certainly not Genesis' or Hyundai's fault but my local dealer was extremely helpful when I got the windshield replaced. They allowed a third party vendor to come to the dealership and replace the windshield. The dealership then calibrated the sensors afterwards. The dealer provided me with a loaner for the day even though the repair was not warranty work. They have been very good with me over the years.

It may help if you could elaborate a bit more about your specific issue.

I imagine the dealers who will sell the Genesis brand are chomping at the bit to get things resolved and up and running. I was looking at Genesis U.S. sales thru September and 419 cars were sold (vs. 1736 last year). G80 sales were 303 vs. 1367 LY.

You would think given those sales but I'm not seeing any proof on the ground. Hope they aren't rethinking the whole thing.....that would stink!

Thanks, appreciate your feedback and glad you've had a good dealer experience. Again, I'm completely satisfied with the car it's just that the "non-car" experience is not luxury/near-luxury. A lot of little things; winding up in a "high volume" scheduled maintenance experience, the inability of my dealership to download service records into MyGenesis so I keep getting stupid service reminders (I was told "oh yeah, you have to enter the information...really?) and the one that's really bugged me, like an idiot, I purchased Wheel and Tire Coverage. I was specifically told it covered "road rash" which was the ONLY reason I purchased it. Shame on me, I believed it. Had the car for a year, scratched two of the rims a bit and felt it was worth the effort to now get them buffed out. Pulled out my "closing package, found the Tire coverage, read some of the boilerplate to see who to call and noted that the type of damage I was going to claim was specifically not covered. Called Zurich (carrier) to verify (which they did) and said I had to call the dealer to cancel the policy. Called the dealer, spoke to three people and was told I had to speak to the sales manager who was busy at that time. Left full contact details and, to no surprise, haven't heard anything back. Contacted My Genesis and ultimately had a conversation with someone who promised to contact the dealer and someone would definitely be back to me by 10/1. As you can probably guess....silence all the way around. Again, this isn't life changing stuff and I've already spent way more time on this than will ever be justified but this simply isn't an upscale customer service platform. Enjoy your car, looks great.

Sorry to let you down but go an buy a $100K Lexus, Mercedes, Audi, Porsche etc., and you're not going to get a "luxury experience" either. Been there done that. Go spend $200K and you'll get what your after but not on a 58K automobile. What you perceive is suppose to be a Luxury experience is just wishful thinking.

Lets see you're calling the manager to complain about something that's not covered. Gee, do you really think the sales manager can do anything about your unwarranted complaint. Come on get real here. How many ridiculous and unrealistic phone calls does a sales manager have to endure before he/she has had enough and just doesn't return the call. Did you follow-up and go into see the sales manager? First off, you purchased the additional packages from the financier of the dealership not the sale-manager. Keep in mind this is the sales manager not the owners. Maybe you should have contact the owner/s of the dealership. If you didn't read the fine print of the contract, shame on you, again.

I don't know what you're complaining about, we had a rim that was rubbed (scratched) it was replaced no questions asked. We had a tire get a nail in the last groove of the tread and they replaced it with no questions asked. Yes, we have the entire Platinum Service Package which includes; Paint, Wheels & Tires, Service etc.

If you believe your being treated unfairly, simply go to another dealership if you're not happy with this one. James you're here to complain if you think someone will listen, this is the bottom line,

However our dealership has been more than responsive to our needs.

IMHO you're just expecting too much.

Got it, thanks. Not sure where you live but I can assure you luxury brand dealerships in my area, on average, provide a much different client experience. We have a home in FL also so I'll give a dealership down there a shot but I would have expected more response/service from Genesis "corporate". Again, I'm not expecting to get coverage from, or a refund of, my monthly warranty payments to date, I'm just looking to cancel going forward or have someone tell me that's not even an option. Thought someone on this forum may have had a similar experience, guess not.

I am the owner or a hyundia genesis car been given me problem and no one seem to find anything wrong with it,when it cut off going down the highway no matter what speed just all of a sudden it put you down in the middle of the main road 295,895, just any place dealer say they can't find a probem it stayed in the shop for 28days they say no problem call hyundia consumer they wasn't much good trying to sole the problem,it may be good for any one who wants to buy a good looking genesis but i would not get another one if they were given them away because the dealer and the did not stand by mind.
