  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis parts availablilty Rant & help needed!

I'm having the same issue with my 2018 G80 3.8 RWD Inner Tie Rod. It snapped on a pot hole and the dealer won't sell me the inner Tie Rod. They want 3k just for the whole gear assembly. I see from 2015-2017 the RWD uses the part # 57724-B1200 INNER TIE ROD w/o AWD. Might just have to risk it and order it. I would just hate to take it apart and have the wrong part.

Not sure what to do or if anyone know if the years are interchangeable?
You have a 2018 model, should that repair be covered under the bumper-to-bumper warranty?

Hitting pot holes is not covered. You'd have to prove it defective.

Make sense I guess. However, I would never tell the dealership I hit a large pot hole. I would just say I was driving and the rod broke. The burden of proof would have to be on the dealership to prove otherwise.

I had battles with Ford and Volvo in the past about similar issues that could have been my fault under warranty, but I just claimed I do not know how it happened. I did have one service manager keep questioning me until he gave up because my story never changed and they repaired the issue under warranty. He even tried the"just between us two" approach while my car was being repaired. I still did not waiver.:)

May not be the right thing to do, but when faced with a expensive bills I did what had to do.

Yeah I ordered this one, should be here tomorrow. I still need one more part to come in. I will let you know how it goes by early next week. I went to the dealer and tried to order the oem part and they took the order, but 3 days later said it is canceled. Hopefully the aftermarket one works.

Too late.:)

Well , considering that I won in both cases I would say that I am very intelligent and actually should reproduce. If you think winning against a dealership is stupid, then I do not know where you get your idea of stupid. Being too honest is stupid when it comes to dealerships.

Hey I never said my way was the best way to go, however it seem that Hyundai is screwing owners by charging $3k to fix a hundred dollar problem, so if I had to deal with a Hyundai dealership then I would claim ignorance to why an part failed. Apparently telling the truth does not benefit the owner in regards to Hyundai warranty policy even on a new car. The tie rod could still been defective even though the owner hit a pot hole, however Hyundai was able to blame the owner for the issue. That in itself is dishonest as well in my opinion.

We are off the subject but if you were able to walk out with two laptops under your coat and not get caught, should we give you props? In both cases you stole from the manufacture/dealer as you received goods/services that you did not pay for nor were entitled to. ;)

I understand, I did withheld important information to get a claim settled. However, like mentioned earlier how did Hyundai know that the pot hole broke the new rod and subsequently charge the owner $3k to repair the damage.

But it all honest , you are right that dishonest is dishonest no matter if the dealership is also dishonest. I am bad person. I should be like you and never lie.

So if the dealer lies and cheats you on a car deal you would be ok with him “winning” also. Right?

Never said either of those. Don't know whether the former is true but certainly know the latter isn't.

Heck no. However, some do if you are not careful.
No one should be charged $3k for a tie rod on a new car short of an accident. Just my opinion.
If my car is under warranty it will get fixed under warranty unless I did something to the car myself that can be easily proved. Hitting a hole, not so much. They are fixing that under warranty, especially if they are charging $3000 to repair it. I bet they would have "located" a tie rod if they had to repair the car under warranty.

Hate my methods if you must, but I am honest enough to say that I am not always honest. Whoever say they are is a liar I bet.

LOL. I am not a bad person, but I am also no angel. I am honest enough to state that.

A wise grandparent of mine once said - "If asked a direct question, answer it. But volunteer nothing." Covers the ethical gray area quite nicely....
