  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 2019 G90. However, my remote app works about 20-30 percent of the time. I've been on for months with Genesis about this issue to no avail. I can sit in my house, have full cell reception, and sometimes the car will start and sometimes it won't. I'll be in an open parking lot, even right next to the car, and about 1 of 5 times it works.

Has anyone else had this issue? They keep asking me to reset the head unit. Ain't the head unit.

Being next to the car does not matter. You are, in reality, thousands of miles away from the computer that sends the signal. It all travel via Verizon to a server in CA and then back to the car.

Do you get a message that it failed? If so, the signal at least was sent. Could be something with the receiving antenna in the car. I have no idea where that is though. I also assume you did reset the head unit at least the first time asked.

I've had this setup on four cars now. The success rate varies, but none as dismal as your. Present car, since May, is 100%.

Oh, I did mention Verizon. You say you have a strong signal but if your carrier is not Verizon, makes no difference. Where my daughter just moved to, she ditched them due to poor signal. If you have a different carrier, as someone on Verizon to check at your house.

All those things make sense. I am T-Mobile, but my coverage is fabulous. My speed on my phone here at home is 400Mbps (non-WIFI). so, my signal isn't the issue. I'm not sure how the vehicle itself connects to cellular. But I can sit where I am right now and ask it to either start or flash lights. Sometimes it will. Sometimes it won't. I get error messages that the process has failed. Just now, I hit "detailed view on the vehicle status and it just cycles and then tells me, "Your request is taking longer than normal to respond and cannot be processed at this time. Please try again or call..." Verizon isn't as great here. But this happens in open areas with except cell reception. Verizon, over all, has the best reception of all the companies. But in the cities they are all about the same with some anomalies.

If this just happened "here," I'd understand. But it seems to happen everywhere, and especially when I am counting on it to work.

When I had Genesis connected services (Blue-Link), they probably worked about 70+% of the time. When it did work, there was a variable delay of 45 seconds to 3 minutes. My 2018 was 3G only, so I added aftermarket remote start after that. I went with 12V solutions /w app module. It uses T-Mobile for service, I believe. It has worked 99% of the time (Just one time that it didn't work so far). An even bigger difference is that the aftermarket works in seconds (often about 5 seconds) consistently.

When the signal is sent and car is contacted, there is feedback to the source. thus, the reply you get of good or bad.

Certainly sound like the signal is not received. Perhaps someone that knows the antenna type and location can help. Attach a coat hanger like we did in the old days.

Because that's what $80k cars should be.
