  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

To all the owners frustrated with their car pulling left, or right, don't give up.

My car started pulling to the right shortly after running over some debris that was laying across a dark road. I had my dealer do an alignment, move tires around, etc., with no fix. Took the car to another dealer, after mine was unable to fit me in again...I think they just were tired of me complaining about the car pulling.

The new dealer took the time to listen to my issue, and actually test drove the car, after each adjustment, until it was fixed. And now it is perfect again!

The alignment done by my normal dealer was "within spec", but so messed up, it was hard to believe. So it needed tweaking, and that was the solution.

So if you have an issue, and alignments don't seem to fix it. Make sure they are not just getting the car "within spec". It really need some finessing.

I know not all issues are the same, but this totally fixed my pulling issue.

A year or two ago somebody posted something similar: on their Genesis the alignment was within service manual tolerances but the vehicle pulled... when a shop took the time to adjust "spot on" to the spec their steering/pulling issues went away.

I had my Genesis aligned at an independent suspension shop recommended by a Costco Tire Department when I bought new tires. The suspension shop first aligned to spec, and then did multiple test drives and adjusted it after each test drive. As you say, merely aligning to spec is worthless. I did not even have to complain to them, as that is their standard procedure.

There is big difference between taking it to a dealer mechanic who occasionally does an alignment, compared to one who does alignments all day, every single day. The independent suspension shop told me I could come back after about 1000 miles for a final no-charge adjustment, but it was not needed.

If an alignment is needed, it needs to be done right after getting new tires, otherwise the wear on the tires will affect the tracking.

So did you happen to have the final alignment specs, you can post that up so we can use it as a guide.

This is common sense. Your thrust angle can still be off if each side is not closely matched or if you have some toe (should always be completely zero'ed out) even if they are all within spec. Any competent mechanic could have told you this. Not sure why the 1st dealership could not have seen this from their alignment machine.
