  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What stereotypes do you think the Genesis Sedan appeals to? We'll use Jalopnik's Suitability Parameters:
2009 Genesis Sedan 3.8 or 4.6:

I think that, to those that the Genesis appeals to, it appeals on many levels. To most, I believe that the Genesis is viewed as a great vehicle value at its current price point. I think that some have had experience with other Hyundai products and simply see the Genesis as the Top vehicle of a brand they trust. I think others are just taken aback by the first impression and realize that the Genesis would be a great car regardless of manufacturer. I think Hyundai said it best in one of their very first ads. "Some companies build cars for people that have more. At Hyundai, we build cars for people who deserve more." Nobody spends $40K on any car they are not impressed with. Keep in mind that there are offerings from MB, BMW, Volvo, Infinity, and Lexus for similar money, so it can't be all about image. Having no Korean bias at all, I must confess that I do not understand what this thread hopes to reveal. From my TV's to washer and dryer, to countles little electronic "do-dads", the Koreans build an excellent product in my honest opinion. Just my two cents.

Not sure if there IS a category above that applies. Where do you put "affordable luxury"? Or "luxury without pretention"?
I chose 'serious businessman' because it's the least non-descriptive of the lot. If you know what I mean...

This poll makes no sense to me.

I don't consider myself as any of the stereotypes listed.

I have no Korean bias as well. I, too, think Koreans build excellent products without paying a heavy premium. I have a TV, car, DVD player, cell phone, all made by Koreans. I think the Genesis is one of their proven products that shows the manufacture knows how to make a car.

There is not enough Genesis owners to build stereotype ...

I would agree, Can you be a stereotype if you are the ONLY person driving the car in your region?

I am yet to see another Genesis on the road in my town. (about 100,000 people where I work)

I took this as what other people generally think so I chose poseur. Most times when I am in any forum that mentions the Genesis you get a lot of people that say that Hyundai sucks and is a wanna be bentley, lexus, bmw, etc.

I even saw this first hand. I was in New Haven buying a ring for my fiance. The jeweler and I were talking and he mentioned "that car on tv" and I said, "yeah the Genesis I love that car" but then he said he would probably never buy it because it was a Hyundai and his brother said the same. I don't care but that is a big opinion, a lot of people say $35,000 for a Hyundai, they fall apart? They think of the Hyundai Excel still from the early 90s.
