Genesis Support in Utah

I own two Genesis, a GV70 and G70. Utah had no cars when we purchased, and had to go out of state. Now that we are back in Utah I'm having trouble with service. There used to be 3 dealerships (Lindon, Ogden, and Sandy) but the Sandy location suddenly vanished. It is impossible to make an appointment on the app - all dates are blocked out and the Lindon location just does not answer the phone. I ended up having to drive an hour just to make an appointment. The service was atrocious. 3.5 hours for an oil change and they never did the 8k service - no tire rotation, filters, did not reset maintenance meters. All the while asking me if I purchased the cars at their dealership! What does that matter?

After calling them out, they verified via camera they did not do the other items but it's not like they sent a loner car to me to do it right. They told me to get the tires rotated elsewhere but would pay me back if reasonable. In all, I spent 9 hours on an oil change and tire rotation. I contacted Genesis customer service but. never received a case number. I like the cars but there is a real problem in the Salt Lake City area and Utah. Does anyone else have experience here in Utah??

Unfortunately, poor service is a problem in many markets and you can find many threads on the forum where owners have had unacceptable dealer experiences. GMA Consumer Affairs is pretty helpless. They commonly regurgitate the line that dealers are businesses that operate independently. Still, GMA heavily markets the "Genesis Experience" as though they are able to deliver on par with established luxury marque dealers. You can search for recommended dealer service via the thread link below but to date there are very few recommendations of the 300 or so dealers.

I would not even bother using a Genesis dealer for basic maintenance like oil and tire rotation even if it's free. Just use a local independent shop and pay for it.

Sadly, are the latest owner to discover that Genesis has a “better idea” for selling and servicing.

Interesting but disappointing. A letter was sent to Claudia Marquez and Peter Donnellan but I don't have high hopes.

I purchased my GV70 in April from the Ogden store and live in West Jordan. Have had to go back once for a couple things I added on (42 miles and about 45 minutes each way), and will see how the service experience goes soon for an oil change. I live right on the edge of what would be the valet service. I will try to use the app to schedule, but I expect to email the service rep I’ve already worked with. I’m also waiting on replacement chrome trim to come in and that will be covered under warranty. Communication from the service rep during the wait has been good, but as of a couple weeks ago the parts were still back ordered.

I’m hoping the Sandy location is being replaced with a stand alone dealership. They are building across the street from the Hyundai store and last time I drove by I thought it looked similar to the pictures being shared of the stand alone locations that have been built so far.
