  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello,
Question about tires: I have a 2011 Genesis Sedan 4.6 liter and I need to get new tires soon. The last time I got tires, I purchased Hancock tires and had to return them as there was a terrible front end pull, I was told that I could only run Michelin tires, they are so expensive. I wanted to get any input or experience from others.

Thank you

I have a 2018 Genesis G80 5.0. Based on my limited time and miles with this car, I would suggest staying away from Continentals as I'm on my second set of rear tires (less than 4K miles) and still have rear end vibration issues. One way or another, I expect to change tires soon and will likely go with the Michelin Pilot Sport AS-3s. With regard to selection and cost, if you take a look on tire rack, you'll see a few different sets of tires that will fit your car; none are cheap, but you're not exactly driving a "budget" car either.

I have a brand new G90 that I just drove from Boston to Ft. Myers. The Continentals on my front end cause significant vibration. The selling dealer would not replace even after 2 attempts at balancing and alignment. Genesis corporate is now involved. Will be interesting to see what remedy they suggest. So far they've been very cooperative and understanding. I've had 2 sidewall blowouts from Continentals on a S550 and A8 so not my tire of choice. Interesting to see if members of this forum have had similar issues?

I have heard of lots of issues with Continental tires on G80 Sport & G90 models.
My 2016 has 18 " Michelin Primacy MXM4s which I am very happy with especially in snow. I would strongly recommend.

That's what's on my G80 and I agree, very good tire. Let's hope they agree!

My car is back at the dealer for the rear wheel (continental tire) vibration. A factory rep is supposed to be meeting with my dealer this week to work out some type of remedy. I'll post an update when I have one.

235/50 R18 tires?

tire rack recommends the following:

From personal experience, I have used both of these models on various vehicles.

I had the G-Max on my 2012 Camaro after the factory Good Years were bald at 12,000 miles. I found them to be solid reliable tires for the next 24K miles before I let the car go. at 24K they were at 8/32 wear so they had a good 25-30K of life left on them.

The BF Goodrich I am running on my 1939 Hot Rod, just got them 2 months ago and they seem to be solid tires, only brand/model I could find in the sizes I needed. The Hot Rod is sensitive to vibration and pulling due to the 40ish year old front suspension design (1970s Mustang II retro build), I have had a time with tires on it over the years, and so far the BF Goodrich seem to be the best, I drove it more in the past 5 weeks while my G80 was in for rear end repairs than I have driven it in the past 5 years and I had no issue with the tires, compared to the Dunlop's they replace which had 5K miles (but were 10 years old) that like to wander all over the road and would vibrate your teeth loose.

Don't shortcut on tires- it's not worth it. Go Michelin. I'm ready for tires again after 60k on my Michelins from Costco.
I can second that.

Right now I am driving on Blizzak winter tires mounted on aftermarket rims, and my OEM rims with Michelin summer tires (old model) are in the basement. But as soon as Costco has $70 off of Michelin tires I am buying new model of summer tires - Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S.

It is night and day difference to drive on winter tires in winter, and on summer tires in summer compare to all season tires. (forgot to bold text).

I just got Costco flyer. Any set of 4 Michelin Tires are $70 off. Valid 1/2/19-1/27/19.

I saw that Costco flyer too but I'm hoping to hold out for the $70 off PLUS 1 cent tire mounting vs. $15 each regular price.
Yes. 1 cent sounds much better than $15. Do you know when and how often Costco tire center does that?

I am trying to get the price of a tire, but you need to be a member to do that. Can you possibly get me the price of the tire?
Yes, you need to be a member. Look at T1.jpg image attachment in my previous post. That was screenshot from Costco website.
And I got four tires two Sundays ago. They are now in my basement waiting for the end of April.

Update: I finally have my car back after almost 4 weeks at the dealer. It took some time, discussion, and correspondence with Genesis customer support and the dealer, but in the end, I have a new set of tires (Michelin Pilot Sport AS3+). The ride is much improved, and any slight vibration I feel now (in my opinion) can be attributed to the sensitivity of the G80 suspension and road imperfections. Genesis and my local dealer came through.
