  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

This morning on the way to work. It was dark and I saw the deer crossing the highway, hit the brakes and it stopped so I jammed the pedal to the floor tagging it on the right side of the car. Swerving left was a ditch area and couldn't swerve right due to an approaching semi-truck(which I believe demolished it). Pulled over and got this picture. No airbag deployment, lights and blinkers still work.

Well, not great, but it could have been a lot worse...

Indeed, Sir. I called my agent this morning, spoke with the insurance rep late this afternoon and everything is progressing. Just hate to be without the car for however long it takes to repair it. Just received new transmission pan/filter, hardware, new trans filler port seals/plug and new differential gaskets for a service. Now I have to wait.

Wow, glad you're all right. I hit a big raccoon at around 60 back in November, and ended up replacing the entire radiator support. Couldn't believe how much damage an animal that size could do...

Thanks. Been there, had a raccoon takes out a wheel well years ago in another car.

At least it looks like you got to drive your away. This was $24k in damage - and was unfortunately totaled in 2009. And I got no venison out of it :( 1711553748744.webp

Ouch. I had a similar experience with an S-10 Blazer in 2001. We sold it to a guy that used it to move his boat trailer in and out of the water on his property for $300.00

Well, the insurance company totaled my 2014 with 215K miles because they said it wasn't worth the $ 7,300.00 repair estimate. They offered me $ 8,072.00 if they kept it and $ 6975.00 and I could keep it. I took the car and the cash and now it's sitting in my garage as of Friday the 19th all fixed. I will have a salvage title but I don't care because I didn't ever plan on selling it anyway.

I just looked again at the picture in your first post, and it appears the hood was untouched. Good thing, since I believe the hoods on these cars are made of aluminum, and that would’ve likely been expensive to replace (some body shops won’t even try to repair aluminum panels)…

Indeed, I got very lucky with the hood being saved.
