In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. I've owned a lot of cars over the course of my lifetime (to date :) ), but without question the Genesis and my last car, the Q50, were technologically head and shoulders above any of my previous rides. I enjoyed the Q50 but it had its flaws, and I enjoy the Genesis but miss some features from the Q. Thought I'd start a thread comparing the two:

Q50 Pluses: windshield wiper & headlight integration (the headlights turn on when the wipers are engaged, which in NJ is required by law), excellent implementation of the nannies (they all worked perfectly and intelligently with the one exception noted below), no buttons on the outside handles (sensor in the inside of the handle), the heated steering wheel could be set to come on automatically below a certain temperature, multiple rear-view camera angles with an EXCELLENT top down view, also multiple and excellent nav map view options, auto-population of nav locations as you enter street addresses, dual displays so you always had a map visible in one with everything else in the other, and the undeniable speed and acceleration of the 328 HP V6 in a 3750 lb car.

Q50 Minuses: in both my G37 and the Q50, the driver's headrest would creep up on its own over time (I always preferred it at the lowest setting), the "in-touch" system was never fully perfected (at least in the 2014 model), sometimes the nannies could be too intrusive (if you want to pass a vehicle and the system thinks you are too close to it or if it thinks another vehicle in an adjacent lane might be in your way, the system fights you and it requires the driver to literally "force" the car to obey), limited trunk space, came standard with run-flats and getting the dealer to swap them out as part of the deal was difficult (run-flats create a hard ride).

Genesis Pluses: HUD (love the feature - in fact, it's one of the reasons I made the switch), extremely comfortable and quiet ride, seat bolsters and leg extension, reasonably sized trunk, auto hold, auto defogging, large console and glove box storage, I enjoy a larger car (prior to the two Infinities, all of my cars were "large"), the Genesis app and remote start feature - outstanding implementation of a smart phone app, and of course the price.

Genesis Minuses: AEB not as well implemented as it could be (in the Q, if a car is stopped at a light in front of you and you don't see it in time, the Q will brake - that doesn't seem to be the case in the Genesis), no wiper/headlight integration, gas mileage, and a ridiculously large key fob. Oh yes, one last minus - it's a Hyundai :)

While it may sound as though I preferred the Q50 to the Genesis, that's not the case. I simply miss some of the features to which I became accustomed. But the Genesis is unquestionably an outstanding vehicle. I'm sure I'll think of other pluses and minuses, but these are the ones that come to mind at the moment.

What do you miss from your previous vehicles (or enjoy in the Genesis that you didn't previously have)?

That is not true, the Genesis will brake automatically to stop a collision below a certain speed (50mph I think?) and above that will still brake to mitigate a collision. Make sure AEB is enabled in settings and you may get a warning from time to time. I would not suggest testing it as when it does engage, it is dramatic and can be startling. I had it happen once when a car in front of me turned right and braked suddenly blocking my lane.

I test drove the Q50 before I leased my Genesis. I liked the car, but found the ride very poor partly due to the run flat tires. I might have been able to accept that if the cornering capabilities were good but the handing of the Q50 did not seem to be much better to justify the firm ride. Also, if I recall the mileage is not great on the Q50 either, about the same between the two cars I think and premium fuel is required on the Q50 but not on the Genesis.

I drove the Q50 as well. I didn't care for the size, but I did like the tech. In fact, it's the first Infiniti/Nissan to finally get away from 5 year old tech. Other 2015 Infiniti still have the same tech as my 2011 Altima had. Disappointing. The ride was ok, but sportier than I was really looking for. I chose Genesis because of comfort.

Of course it's engaged. It has alerted me at speed, but never at low speed. But so be it, not a big deal.

And the difference in mpg (at least for me) is 2-3 mpg.

As for the comment about the sportier ride - yes, no question - it's marketed as a sports sedan. But again, without the rft's it's much smoother.

I had two G37's AWD back to back and the way they accelerate is improved over the Genesis even though they have similar toque and HP outputs. The Genesis seems like the DBW system holds back the engine from spinning up too quickly. But overall, I think the Genesis has more positives than negatives from the G37.

The Q50 is a nice car...but everything that you've mentioned is an additional add on to the car. Which would push prices to well over $50K. A base Q50 3.0t doesn't even have memory seats and navigation...

Now, if you had a Genesis 5.0, which is the V8 bad boy...it comes standard with everything the Infiniti Q50 charges as an option, you would see that the Genesis exceeds the Q50 by a mile. Oh, and also, the Genesis 5.0 can be had now for about the same price as a Q50 2.0t, which is the entry of the model line. Matter of fact, I raced a modded Q50S awhile back in Mexico. He got the jump on me off the line, but once the 5.0 breathed...I took him by almost two car lengths down the quarter mile (road is well "driven" by locals).

The thing, in my opinion, that the Q50 has over the Genesis, is the optional Brembo brakes and exhaust note.

The Q50 does 0-60 in about 6-6.3 seconds (cars.com), being lighter than the Genesis. The Genesis 5.0 stock can hit 0-60 in 5 seconds flat. The 5.0 also has beefier rear tires, which makes the twisties that much more fun.

Genesis minus for me, damn rear seats won't fold down.

Also as an FYI, I've driven the Q50S before purchasing the 5.0 Genny. It was fun, but all of the additional options that raised the price was a turn off. I wanted a car that comes standard with all those goodies. Also, it wasn't that quick, and being sporty is subjective to the driver. My girlfriend wanted a Q50S for awhile due to the aggressive front face...that was before she laid eyes on the SRT8 Jeep, everything else is history :D

No one believes it's a Hyundai. I have friends that own the new Lexus IS and GS and even they flock over to our car when I'm in the area. I enjoy just about everything about this car :) no regrets and glad I didn't pick up the Hellcat Charger...that would've been a gas sipping nightmare.

The Q50 is about $1,000 less than the Genesis (my 2014 was about $52K sticker) - and that is fully loaded. So I'm really comparing apples to apples. And btw, the 0-60 was 5.2 for the 328 V6.

Look, I'm not knocking the Genesis - I really like it and I'm glad I got it - I'm just making an honest, objective comparison.

The Q50 was one of my finalists before buying the Genesis. There were things I liked about both cars, mostly in line with what the OP mentioned. In the end I stopped researching cars for a couple of weeks, and after that the Genesis was the one I was still thinking about.

Q50 Minuses: in both my G37 and the Q50, the driver's headrest would creep up on its own over time (I always preferred it at the lowest setting)

I think it's funny that you mentioned this for the Q50, since the headrests in my Genesis creep up over time. I think I sometimes hit them with my back/shoulders as I'm getting into or out of the car.

AEB is running also on low speeds. days ago it engages the breaks for me when I was going to hit a car in front with about 2-3mph

Ah yes - ventilated seats a real plus (especially in my wife's opinion :) ).

Always makes me feel like I peed my pants. I wonder why women like it so much...

Thank you for the comparison, Allan!

two very different cars for the same price imo.

the genesis is large and in charge.

I just turned in a Q50 Sport lease to purchase a 2015 Genesis AWD Ultimate CPO. I am extremely satisfied with the Genesis over the Q50 in tech, quality, size, and how it drives. The only thing I miss with the Q50 Sport is the tight handling, the AWD Genesis certainly leans more due to the extra weight in tight turns. However all the other feature, comfort, and looks benefits of the Genesis beat the Q50 in my opinion.

Agreed on the tight turns - but I have to say the Genesis has impressed the heck out of me on more sweeping curves.

I suffer from newcaritis regularly (about every 14 months I start itching) I think my 2015 3.8 Ultimate has slowed down the illness to scratch my itch. I've owned many different vehicles including all of the Asian brand's luxury division vehicles either car or SUV.

My Genesis is holding my interest partly because at nearly two years old it still has nearly the most advanced safety feature set out there.

Trading it in for newer, won't get me more or better stuff. So why trade in when I can't trade up?

I agree it is very solid in normal sweeping turns. I wonder if a stiffer anti-sway bar would reduce the leaning into hard turns.

I think it's going to be awhile before anything significantly better comes along...
