  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi guys again...

I'm wanting to change the wing emblem from the back of the Genesis.
I am getting my car in about a month from now...

I wanted to order from KDMGUY but have noticed a thread that apparently some people are not getting their items and also some have stated that they emailed him and have NOT received a reply.

This thread actually scares me...

Can someone please help me find where I can get these 2 emblems (Front and Back)?

Many thanks for your help.

Haven't had any problem ordering from him. Very prompt. Just ordered some more.:D

There are on ebay, not a bad price, the front emblem will be more difficult to install. There is a video on this site that shows you how to replace the trunk lid logo to the emblem. The front you'll need to either grind down the posts on it, of drill holes in the hood. Good Luck.

bought mine on ebay. no problems.

Also purchased on eBay. Bought the rear emblem only and it took about two weeks to come from Asia. I was aware of that and it arrived just as they said it would. Good luck.

Thanks all...I appreciate all your feedback and advice...so I've decided I'll buy through EBAY and hope all goes well.

Thanks
:)

Talked with my dealer this morning and he said they are in Los Angeles at the moment, and they will soon be at all dealers. They will soon be distrubuted to the East Coast and all Dealers should have them in mid April.

This might be a dumb question, but does anyone know if you have a leased vehicle will Hyundai "allow" you to put say just the rear badge on? I am picking up my 4.6 Hyundai tomorrow and will ask, but just wondering if this would be allowed. I might even ask if the dealership will perform the install just to make sure its done per their "specifications"

I am assuming your are referring to Hyundai dealers. If so, is this a Hyundai authorized mod? If so, are they planning on going over to the winged logo as a standard feature or an option, or will it continue to be an aftermarket addition?

If it is offered through Hyundai dealerships as ctrcbob indicates, it may be a Hyundai authorized mod.

Ordered the entire wing ensemble (hood, trunk, wheels, steering) from KDMGUY via ebay. No problems, fast delivery. Love the emblems. Decided not to put the hood one on, though.

Two thumbs up!

I don't think so. I spoke to salesman at two different dealers (one where I purchased the car and one that is much closer where I bought some oil filters) and they got it from the same place as us.

Dealers are independent companies not owned by Hyundai. The can add any accessory they want to a car so long as it does not void the warranty. Same thing applies to window tinting that a dealer can install on a new car and charge you for.

I'm having emblems installed tomorrow on the trunk and steering wheel hub. I asked the dealer if they could be removed and the originals re-installed when it's time to turn the car back in to Hyundai. He said yes, but i had a feeling he really didn't know. The dealership does not get them from Hyundai, so buyer beware.

I'm surprised people think the front emblem is more difficult to install. It took me longer to install the rear emblem than the front emblem - and no, you don't have to grind down the posts on it. In case you haven't realized, the posts are plastic - I managed to cut them down piece by piece using nail clippers - not even the hardy pet nail clippers, just regular nail clippers. The only thing is to make sure you cut them enough that they don't stick out when you keep the emblem on the curved hood surface.

Hope you guys take a second look at the front emblem - seriously, it's easier to install that than the rear emblem !

Thanks for the tip. I was wondering if I should attempt the front emblem. I'm going to put it on. Any feedback on whether the 3M backing on them (Front and rear) holds through a car wash?

Jim

The adhesive, if properly applied (surface prepped--dewaxed, no dirt, dry) should be there until you do what you had to do with the original Hyundai logo: heat it and use fishing line (or whatever) to slice through the adhesive. It will most definitely hold through washes and weather.

As an aside, the front emblem is more difficult, not necessarily because of the posts that you have to remove, but because you have to decide where to put it and then make sure it's applied straight and along the midline of the hood. It's mostly personal preference how far up the hood from the lip you place it. But you should definitely mock it up (use a bit of masking tape on the back before you remove the adhesive backing to hold the badge and then step back to look at it from afar). Then you should ensure that it's level and centered, then use masking tape as a guide line along the diagonals to aid in permanent positioning. I wouldn't recommend trying to freehand it, since once it's down on the hood, it's not going to move.
