  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

If this turns out to be a common questions, I tried searching "key fob" but it said no results because both terms were too short.

I am in the process of replacing the flying H on my trunk, wheels, and airbag.

I was looking at my fob, and was thinking that someone has to make a replacement plastic case for the smart key with the genesis wings.

I have searched many places online, and ebay but cant find it.

Has anyone seen what I am looking for? Does it exist?

I am suspect it exists in Korea, which where all the wing emblems come from, because the Genesis is a brand in Korea, and not sold as a Hyundai (sort of like Lincoln is a separate brand, even though owned by Ford). Not sure if they use the same compatible keyfob technology in Korea, but someone problem has looked into this.

I wouldnt mind purchasing one also

From a vendor:

Thanks for your interest. The backing of the key is not sold separately.
Hyundai only sells this along with the purchase of the smart key fobs.

that seems silly.
I know someone could make a ton of money selling those as aftermarket accessories.

I would pay at least $50 for a pair of the cases. My keys work fine, so i have no need to replace them.

This is like Dell saying that they don't sell a replacement laptop case, you have to buy a whole new computer.

It seems like too big a market for someone not to make it.

Do the korean key fobs have the wings on them? Can I assume the korean market keys will work for the USA market cars? If so, I might be trying to order one from there.

Where did you find this out? And how much for the whole replacement key and case? Since i omly have one key fob i might be interested

I emailed KAI. They quoted $95 I believe

I have the answer.

1.5 year ago, I bought the Wing Emblem Badge FOB cover (BACK of the fob). It will only work in Korea.

When you separate the FOB into two pieces (when I switched battery) you will notice that the round battery goes in front side that has buttons. Hence, when you switch the backside that has the WING, FOB won't close unless you modify the FOB cover that has the WING. This is because the battery slot is in backside that has the WING emblem...

You will basically have to get the whole new FOB unit. I tried to cut corners by just getting the FOB cover that has WING, but failed miserably...

Hope this helps. I will try to post a pix later on for you guys.

I found a vendor on eBay that advertised a brand new smart key. A Mobius OEM smart key came in a sealed OEM package for my Genesis for about a third the price of purchasing one from my state side dealer.

The purchased key, I was very pleased with it since as a bonus the case had sliver wings on the back and other than that was identical to my original.

Thinking I hit the jackpot I took the new OEM key still sealed in the Mobius package to my Hyundai Service rep for programing. The technician came out to the waiting room and informed me he was able to program the key to start the car if the key was in the slot in the dash, but none of the other functions of the key worked because it did not have the correct radio frequency.

He was nice enough to provide with the complete correct Mobius part number for the smart key for my Genesis.

Contacted vendor (In South Korea) and told him of the RF mismatch of the key. He said, yes the RF settings are different for cars in different geological locations.
He said he was sorry, but he couldn’t supply a smart key with the correct frequency for the United States, but He would accept the return key and refund my money.
