  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis's giving up on V8 development

This isn't completely off topic, Hyundai and Genesis could take notes.
Did you go with a electric pump? What type of heads did you use?
I don't even know what the motor looks like in my G80. Too many plastic covers.

That's a seriously good looking car and the mustang wheels look like they were made for it. I used a magnafuel prostar 500 inline fuel pump and braided steel PTFE lined fuel lines. I got 440source heads but took them to a machine shop and had them checked and cleaned up. The valve locks wouldn't work with my cam and the valves were replaced, I also went with fully rollerized Harland Sharp billet rockers, shafts and hold downs. I pulled the main cover off of my 5.0 and it looks good but there are too many wires running all over the place. They aren't loose or anything, they are just everywhere and have covers on them. I thought about getting rid of the cover, foam blocks and covers on the wiring and cleaning it up real good and leaving it that way.

Edit: That F250 engine looks good too. My truck got nicknamed the ugly truck while I was doing all the mechanical work and I liked it that way so I just didn't bother with body work other than replacing a front fender and having the rear wheel wells widened into the bed a few inches.

My F250 was faded, kinda white with light gray primer. No flash what so ever. I don't think anyone would spend time trying to steal it. It did have an Outland gray leather 60/40 front seat and console. It doesn't have to look good to be fast.
You had a few? bucks in that motor. Feeding those things is expensive. If you don't it becomes very expensive. I like the H Sharp rockers. I went with Comp Cams kit- roller rockers, lifters, dual pattern cam 544/555.
How do you take that 5.0 cover off? Just want to see what's there, ID sensors for future reference.
I have to give Hyundai credit for engineering/value

Yeah, I had $12-14k in it including radiator and fans but not including transmission, complete rearend build and brake system rebuild. It was brand new top to bottom excluding the block and it was way overbuilt for what it was. Originally I wanted to run a Nitrous Express plate system on it but that would have been getting further from what I wanted, something reliable enough for the hotrod power tour. I was not ever able to make it. Life got in the way both years I owned the truck during the tour. My cover just has some dowels it snaps onto. Tomorrow morning after it warms up a little I'll take everything off of it, clean it up and take a picture. If you don't mind I'll PM you the picture, I think we've hijacked this thread a little, lol. It had homemade mounts and bucket seats from a daytona pacifica in it. I really wish I had pictures of it when it was "finished". I'd really like some 15x10 on the back of my 2014 5.0 with some 285s and a little sidewall. The truck had 90/10 Calverts on the front for a 55-57 chevy 210, nobody makes performance shocks for that truck and they worked very well with the slant 6 suspension. They didn't collapse as far as the stock shocks but extended I think it was 2" further.

No Problem on the PM. I'd say highjack is a good word. That truck is a nice platform for a build. Might have to box the frame for strength especially in the rear and just after the cab. Mine was a long bed, little easier to drive but still traction limited. Dana 60 w/373's.
The last rebuild on the TBird was 8/18 to 11/18, 6 days a week. That was new motor and everything under the hood, new brake system, rotors, bearings, calipers, lines, MC, booster, adj. prop valve, Centerforce II clutch, pressure plate, Ford Racing billet flywheel, new fuel system, tank, lines, pump, fuel rails, etc., built the instrument cluster- all Autometer gauges. And a couple of hundred other parts. Only original parts on the car are body, windows, door panels and seats.
