  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Gensis Paint Pen

Yeah, my dealerships are totally inept. I asked the only two in the area and one said that they have no idea because they only have access to Hyundai parts catalogs but that they could get me a white one for a Hyundai that would be the closest they could find... um, no. The other told me that there arent any touchup paints available for Genesis which I know is false. These are both certified Genesis dealerships by the way.

I'll call around and see if another dealership can ship one to me. Then, I'll take it to the local dealerships to prove them wrong.
Soooo, they sell you a G70, but claim they can't get you any parts for it? That's a good one. If RGY is the paint code for Siberian Ice, the Hyundai part # for that is 00F05-AU000-RGY, which is available at 5 of the 8 warehouses.

Unfortunately for some of us, like @Cgo and I, our local dealers are absolutely useless and we gotta do things on our own. I loved the dealer I bought my car from, all the way out in Troy Michigan - they even got me a touch up pen, overnighted it to me for free. But my local dealer here in Vancouver WA - HELL NO. They'd probably not only deny the existence of the pens, but also fully redact my warranty for even asking because they'd assume I've been in a wreck or something. Lol.

Yup, these are the same folks who curbed my wheel, covered it up with black touch up paint, then blamed it on me and told me I was trying to pull a fast one on them. Also the same who out right refused to use the oil specified by Genesis, turned me away from a confirmed appointment because their genesis tech left early, and refuse loaners and valet after telling me that if I wanted that kind of service, I should have bought a luxury vehicle... ummm, isnt genesis supposed to be a luxury vehicle? I reminded them of the ownership perks and the response was laughter and a "yeah, good luck with that..." Lol its laughable at this point.

Best thing to do is to keep calling Genesis Customer care and open a case with them. Genesis will intervene and hopefully remind the dealer of the contract and commitment to service the customer at a level we paid to have.

I've followed up with genesis and they told me that they apologize but dont have much control over private dealerships but would send me a $50 gift card for my troubles...

Genesis paint pens use a different part number from the Hyundai ones.

The part number starts with B1F05-AU000, and they use the same format with the color code at the end, so B1F05-AU000-RGY would be the complete number

So is the Siberian Ice color code for Genesis G70 RGY? Item number B1F05AU000RGY? How well does it match the original paint on the body of the car? Mine is a 2020 G70.

Very good, I used it on my car.

I used the pen for Himalayan Grey on my car. My method was to shake pen vigorously, then press pen onto small piece of cardboard to make a small pool of paint and lift paint from pool with pen tip and apply carefully. A spray bottle of cleaner if I make a mistake to wipe and reapply paint. This was for a two inch streak on door edge.

This... I have Siberian Ice and it takes several tries on a piece of cardboard before the paint is mixed properly for the color to match. Otherwise it will be too gray or too dark. Once mixed properly, it's a near perfect match.
