  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

GenSport United, primarily a Genesis Coupe owners club, has hosted the biannual Tail of the Dragon run in the spring and fall of each year. Over the years, owners bringing friends along or owners moving on to different platforms, this has expanded well beyond just a Genesis Coupe event.

April 2nd to the 5th is the 5th Annual Spring Run and I would like to see some Sedans come join us.

Besides the well known Tail of the Dragon, there are a number of great driving roads in the area, Foothills Parkway, Cherohala Skyway, Devil's Triangle, Moonshiner's Run, etc, and each day features one or more of these drives as a group (Usually broken up into a fast group, who don't want to stop and take pictures as they go along, and a slow group, who does). Each day also has a morning and afternoon Dragon run, which there will be plenty of participation from Killboy, 129Slayer, US129Photos and all of the other professional photographers who setup on the bends to catch your action shots. After the sun goes down, we will have bonfires, dinner and shenanigans, and for the brave and experienced, there is also a night run of the Dragon.

The event is centralized at Fontana Village in Fontana Dam, NC.

If you would like to join us, it's free, if anyone is interested, let me know and I will send further details on lodging accommodations and a registration link so we can keep a running head count.

This sounds like a fun weekend trip. The lodging and itinerary you spoke would be most helpful closer to time. Hopefully my 4.6 will be done by then.

Looking forward to this!

*Edit* I would look into this further ASAP, as lodging is limited.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Love the Dragon.

Rode Belle the entire Blue Ridge Parkway down - lots of great roads in the area - other than the Dragon.

Watch for Bikers please...and although they finally banned truckers this year... a few do slip through.

Lodging, there are a couple of options:

- Fontana Resort -
The event is centered around Fontana, if you want to be at the center of the action then this is where you want to be. Fontana gives us discounted rates for our group, here is what they offer:

To book with Fontana, call 1-800-849-2258 and ask to book a reservation under "Genesis Coupe Spring 2015".

- Microtel Inn & Suites (Robbinsville) -
The closest town to Fontana is Robbinsville, NC, about 10 minutes from Fontana. The only lodging they have is at the Microtel Inn & Suites. No special rates for us here, but average is $65/night. Their number is 1-888-293-6798

- Two Wheel Inn (On the Dragon) -
While it is obviously targeted at the bikes in the area, I have seen one or two cars post up here for the night over the years. This is the barest of the bare, room features 2 twin beds, TV, microwave, dorm fridge and WiFi. Downside is you are squeezed in with all of the other bikers there. $70/night. Now they do advertise a vacation apartment with more space at $125/night. 1-828-479-4248.

- Volunteer Cabin Rentals -
My first run, 2012 Fall, I waited too late and Fontana was all booked up. I found this company renting out cabins in Wears Valley area of TN, prices were about the same as staying at Fontana. I was not disappointed with my last minute choice and have used them every time since. On average, they are about 45 minutes to an hour away from the Dragon, but it is an excellent drive to it through the Foothills Parkway. Now you will see why my wife and I could not say no after our first trip:

Bump!

Group rates have been extended through Feb 15th at Fontana. At the time of this post only 6 people have booked, plenty of rooms/cabins left at Fontana. If anyone was on the fence or just assumed all the rooms would have been booked up by now, now is your time to act!

Currently reviewing whether we want a cabin or the lodge. It's a matter of things to do....

Everything is organized/communicated via 2-way radio, so you won't miss out on something just because you stayed at the lodge.

Spring 2015's events are not yet finalized, but here is a copy of 2014's events so you can get an idea:

Here are some shots of my old Coupe at the Dragon, taken by Killboy, 129Slayer, US129Photos and Moonshiner who setup on various corners of the 318 turns in 11 miles.

Bump this up guys - this looks to be a great time. Love to see some sedan support at the 'event'. Currently there is just two of us.

From everything i have read through forums and Facebook, it seems like a very chill environment with a lot of good experiences to be had. At the very least, it's a weekend away where you can see pretty country, drive some 'aggressive' roads, and visit what the area has to offer.
