Get the map updated - cheaper / easier now

Didn't know that. I thought it would be an either/or thing. Maybe in your case, the map is on the SD card, and any software updates are on the USB?

Yeah I really dont know either, I am not educated to well with things of this matter. I am learning as I go. Thanks goodness for this forum. Lots of good info and folks on this forum.I just had placed my order . So I will soon find out. Thanks for all of your help.

I was thinking about that too.... If they ask for your VIN, they should be able to know what your requirements are. I do remember the USB thing though. Hopefully the new SD card has all the needed info.

Well... Naturally. Guess I was a little weirded out about people getting confirmation earlier even though they ordered on the same day as I. I suppose I was worried about it being legit - $25 from $170 is a massive price drop.

I’m thinking it’s an error that hasn’t been caught yet. Also those that ordered first vs. the massive influx of orders later that day, might explain the quick shipping the in first few hours.


in CA and non-essential means that QA probably isn’t happening correctly. Better for us until it is caught I guess.

Agree. price as marked unless there is a disclaimer that says not responsible for errors in pricing. Which I can’t find anywhere on the site.

I am not to sure about the purpose of the usb stick, but when I purchased my update from mapnsoft last year I received a sd card along with a usb stick. I am hoping for the same thing when it comes in. Just ordered it yesterday.

Apparently not every jog dial does.

I also paid $170ish last year for the update for my 2016 Ultimate (jogdial). But all I got, and needed afaik, was the SD card.

Yeah I dont know. I am skeptical of getting everything I need for the update at such a low price. I am hoping so.

I guess they figure out what you need when you input the VIN#... Hope that's the case.

Either way, mine supposedly arrives some time tomorrow - we'll find out soon, one way or the other.

When I updated mine years ago, the USB stick was the software update. SD card just held the maps.

Yea, same here.....the SD card had everything.

Just ordered the latest version for my 2016 Ultimate.

The site says "Map Version 14 will be available starting Mid-May for most models."

The USB stick is for those rare few systems that haven't ever gotten an update- the SD card does contain the update, but the oldest version of the firmware wasn't able to update from it.

Sure hope this will apply to Canadian Modals as well, so far it only says - No updates are currently available.
