I've heard that you can't go back - but I could be wrong.

Just curious - were you sent a USB stick with your update in addition to the SD card? I was sent both, but mine didn't "ask" for it by greying out the "Update" button...

I did not need it either. Just the SD card.

One thing I notice when upgrading from version 07 is that brightness of the screen is higher and now going from 1-4 does not change the brightness at all. When I have it on 1 it is still kinda bright. I liked it dim at night so it does not distract my eyes. Oh well, I still love the upgrade!

no just sd card

Strange - some received both. I did.

It was my understanding that they went off the VIN# to determine what was needed. And that the USB stick had firmware & such and that the SD card had the maps & functionality updates. My Head Unit had actually been replaced sometime in 2016 by the previous owner, so I guess my newer unit didn't require the USB stick.... Seems rather arbitrary though, as the 2015 - 2016 units are supposedly the same. Just spitballing here.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.....; finally got the card and it will not update. I inserted the card, as per instructions, and instead of a reboot, I got this error (Pic 2)

My old card works perfectly.

I went into the car's Update menu, but it will not update.. the button is greyed out.

I checked the content on the new card on my laptop and it appears to be fine. All the folders are there.

I called MapNSoft, and they had me send pics and they will get back to me.

Anyone have an idea?

How did you even get it? Updates for Canadian cars haven't been made available as far as I know? I've been checking daily for availability. If you bought the US update, that's probably why it's not working.

Nope... I specified Canadian in my order, gave them VIN, etc.

My Ultimate seems to work fine - If it really bugs you at night you can hit the "DISP" button and it'll turn off the screen...

This might sound kinda obvious, but is the new SD card fully seated? Mine tried to pop out on the first try...

Mine did not reboot - turned all off and reinserted turned all on - rebooted - update after final reboot there was no map - blank screen - did the same again - reboot - turned all on same thing - msg to mapnsoft. Then i tried removing card while reboot when it complained i reinserted went thru update again - voila maps and seems to be working.

Yep... fully seated.. I get a nice solid SD card click, identical for the new card and the old card.... except the old card works and the new card is not been "seen" by my car.

Here is a thought... please file this under the heading "there are no stupid questions".

The map update comes in two variations an 8" touch screen or a 9.2" HD touch screen. I measured diagonally and it came to a little bit bigger than 8", so that is what I specified. (And yes, I gave them my VIN also). The card they sent is labeled for the 8"..... is it possible that I measured wrong?

Looking at your screen, I think it is 9.2. Can you send us a picture from the distance?

Do you have the round jog dial control? If so then you have the bigger 9.2 inch touch screen. If not then you have the 8 inch touch screen. Completely different head units and software.

I have received the update and it mentions it takes about 30 minutes to install with the engine running to prevent battery discharge. Wondering if I could hook up my charger to the battery and install the SD card WITHOUT the engine running.

They have been free for 3 years for new Genesis owners. Don't count of free for anything else. Wait until the setup is done and ready.

I orderd my for my '18 G80. I don't remember giving a credit card with the order. And I did get some verbage that I would be charged later. The SD card arrived yesterday and I'm now working up my courgage to install it. I use the GPS very seldom as I'm mostly into Apple Maps or Waze via Apple Play.

I wouldn't do it.

More-so than the battery being run down, I'd be much more concerned with the automatic-shutoff-of-the radio feature after xx minutes (whatever that time limit is). Definitely wouldn't want to interrupt the installation process.

I thought I read previously on this site that that was actual reason for having the engine running during the install, to prevent corrupting the update process by it being stopped mid way into it. I may be mistaken on that point though. Not worth taking a chance, imo.

They should've been able to get the correct card to you based on your vin.
