  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Finally did it this morning. Signed up for a 3.8 Premium, Cabernet Red Pearl with Cashmere interior. Take delivery early next week.

Got it at Pugi of Chicagoland. It was a pleasant, painless, quick experience with Marcus, Dan and Chris. If you are in the market for a Hyundai and you are in the Chicago area make sure you stop in at Pugi. Highly recommended.

While in the dealership ran into forum member BacktoHyundaibychoice who was looking at the Equus that Pugi had on display. He tried harder than the salesmen to get me to move up to the 4.6 with the Tech package but we had already maxed out our budget with the 3.8 Premium. <smile> I would also like to thank Backto for letting me hear his surround sound system and giving me the benefit of his experience with iPhone anomalies, trunk covers and winter driving tips.

Welcome aboard! Thank you for signing up and congratulations on your new Hyundai Genesis! Post pictures when you get it! :)

LOL! You only THINK you can live without the Beatles in surround!!!

Kidding aside, it was nice to meet you and Mrs. Laimins. You're gonna love the car (but you already know that). Congrats!

Congrats on the purchase!

Although some of the upgraded amenities in the 4.6 are nice, I went with the 3.8 for several reasons:

1. Price: There was a bigger delta in the actual price for the 3.8 w/ tech than 4.6 w/ tech than the $2K MSRP difference on paper. Maybe because there's more demand for the 4.6?

2. Resale: Looking at some of the depreciation projections, it looked like the resale for either will be about the same if I hold onto for five years or so like I'm planning.

3. Wheel caps: The lack of OEM Genesis wing caps for the 18" US 4.6 wheels and the relatively high cost (like 3x as much) to get ones that don't look funny favored the 3.8.

4. Power: Acceleration and top speed are not an issue with either model. If anything, I think the fuel economy program and lack of sports shifting options tends to negate both engines.

5. Handling: Seems like there's much more concern about steering and the suspension on the 4.6 due to the weight distribution. I haven't noticed any steering issues or porpoising on rough surfaces with the 3.8.

EDIT: Ah, I see that you didn't get the tech package. I sympathize with the budget issue, since I really was torn with going with the Genesis vs. spending 40% less and getting a Sonata Limited instead. But anyway, I think a lot of the appeal for me was the tech package, and it's hard to think of the Genesis without the Lexicon system. But I'm sure you'll enjoy it with "just" the base system. ;)
