  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey guys. New forum member here. I just bought a 2020 G70 Sport 6MT Savile Silver on black. So far, I’m loving it. It goes into the shop on Monday for a full wrap in satin blue. I’ll post pics once it’s done! For now I’m going to keep the chrome accents and stock wheels. My other car is wrapped and blacked out and I don’t want to do the same thing to two cars. I can’t wait to get it done! This is the G70 pre-wrap hanging out with the siblings. 0263F855-745F-41BA-905E-B36E08BC3213.webp

Enjoy! What does a full wrap cost?

Congratulations!
Please let us know the comments you get (if any) regarding the quality of the paint. Thanks!

Congrats and welcome. The genny looks good! Forgive my ignorance tho- why did you color change wrap a new car?
1) I wanted a G70 in this color. It’s unique. And the pearl finish looks awesome.
2) The wrap protects the paint, it’s super easy to care for, doesn’t get swirl marks and can be swapped to a different color whenever I want.
3) I work hard. My treat is doing whatever I want with my cars. If I want to do something or get something, I do.

1. That’s the main point of my question- I have a 2020 Mallorca blue one. Yours looks like a more matte version of mine... (from your pic at least) Don’t get me wrong I like what you did, but I’d figure you’d start with a blue and then put a clear matte wrap on it. I’ve only ever seen (in person) people wrap used cars with totally different colors. Outside of racing suits of course or crazy colors on exotics.
2. agreed! I totally understand the protection part of it
3. Good logic👍🏻

Actually, it’s quite a bit brighter/lighter in person than Mallorca blue. One of my coworkers has one in that color and it’s very noticeable in person. I started with the silver because of the door jams. It’s a very neutral color and can’t notice it when you open the doors. If I had done it over white, Mallorca or red, it would have been super obvious. The LC 500 in the first pic is also mine. It’s wrapped satin white over Atomic Silver and I picked that color purposefully because of the reason above. Also, wrapping a car in matte PPF is much more difficult and more expensive than regular vinyl wrap. The PPF is thicker and harder to manipulate.

Thanks for the explanation... it’s actually a pretty smart idea about the silver jamb! Makes sense about the starting color now😁
Also beautiful Lexus. The lines and contrast on it look sharp! I’ve ridden in my coworkers RC but haven’t even seen a LC in the wild before!

I can imagine the look but you are right, photos don't show the true finish. Would like to see it in person.

There is an alternative though. Many years go we had a neighbor that changed the color of his car ever few months. Instead of films, he just bought a quart of enamel and brushed it on. At times it was a two tone too, fashionable in those days. From a distance you didn't even notice the brush strokes.

There is a prepackaged system for that. Dip Your Car is a spray you can custom color combo and spray your car. YouTube videos abound and if it’s done well it’s nice. But I prefer a wrap. I think it’s better for little chips and flaking and it’s easier to remove.

So do you like the group "Dead Can Dance?" (probably before your time). Car looks great btw!

Unique color which is very cool. You will not pass another G70 like that which is a bonus. Welcome to the forum.

Here is a good pic of the door jams showing what I meant. They kind of just blend into the background. Something like red or white would have looked bad. You can see the iridescent pearly effect of the wrap in this picture a little better too.

It looks stunning, but I can’t measure the practicality of it on my personal meter. I’d also be worried about the magnified attractiveness of it to malicious passers-by. Still, a person in your profession is entitled to have some joy. I imagine that you are extra busy these days.
